Recommended Resources
It can be overwhelming how many different products there are out there to help you market your website and build your business. We’re constantly researching the best products to give us the edge over our competition.
Below you’ll find all the tools I’ve chosen to use in the businesses I’m involved in.
Some are free and some we pay for. None are given to use for free so we’ll give them a plug.
SiteBuildIt!
A complete, step-by-step toolset to help you build a profitable online business. It helps filter the noise and enables newbies to get a website that follows all the best practices up without technical knowledge. It then provides the pathways and instruction to move from a website into a profitable business.
If you’re brand new to it all, I recommend SBI! as it’s all in one. If you prefer to use WordPress and have some technical skills, then I would recommend using the BizXpress version.
Aweber
Email certainly isn’t as trendy as social media. However, email still drives 10x the sales to the businesses I’ve been involved with over social media. You should consider building a list and nurturing your list as one of your primary objectives of you business. It can quickly become the cornerstone.
I use both Mailchimp and Aweber, but I would recommend Aweber for people are not technically oriented to be able to use their programming API’s etc. For example, with Aweber you can move lists when someone moves from being a prospect to a customer using their simple automation feature rather than programming it. Delivery is excellent and they are tolerant of affiliates (as opposed to Mailchimp and others).
WPEngine
Wordpress has become the defacto software to run websites these days. It’s super powerful and very extensible which is great. However, with great power and popularity comes a lot of problems. Staying on top of all the updates and installing new themes and plugins can become very time consuming and at times a frustrating experience. A few years back I had over 40 sites hacked because I didn’t keep up with the updates and on top of the security.
These days, I save a ton of time (how much is yours worth) and use a WordPress specialist hosting company called WPEngine. The company that makes WordPress has invested in them, so you know they have the inside run at making your site safe and incredibly fast. With a fast site you’ll get more search engine traffic and better conversions.
