Associate Programs Newsletter #441
Jay Stockwell here.
(By the way, you’ll want to read this all the way through to see a special free bribe we have for you!)
Can you remember what you were doing in January 2000? I’m sure if you are anything like me, you weren’t expecting the world to change quite as much as it has in this past decade.
Although you might have heard people asking, “Where’s my jetpack?” :)
Well we may not have a jetpack, but we do have a lot of other amazing aspects to our lives now that are simply incredible.
Who would have thought I would have a device as powerful as the iPhone in my pocket. Something that delivers the power of a computer and more yet sits in the palm of my hand.
I am still blown away at what this device from Apple can do.
Interestingly, I remember back in the 1990’s reading a book by Bill Gates called “The Road Ahead”. If memory serves me correctly he predicted a handheld device as powerful as the iPhone and said that this would change the world as we know it.
When looking at it this way, it’s amazing that the guy who predicted such a device didn’t actually do anything about it.
His nemesis from Apple did.
This is an important insight. Even one of the smartest, most visionary guys in the world has fallen into the trap of not taking massive action on good ideas. What are you doing for 2010? Have you worked out your goals yet?
Have you then turned those goals into sub goals and those sub goals into specific tasks?
A friend of mine is one of Australia’s leading quantity surveyors and project managers. He manages projects worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Projects where each day late costs the company hundreds of thousands of dollars.
I asked him how he can take these massive projects and actually turn them into daily action tasks to ensure that they are delivered on time and within budget.
He said that he simply takes big tasks and keeps breaking them down into smaller and smaller tasks until they are at a level that you can action.
This is advice all of us can take to heart when we have plans to achieve something great in our lives.
Don’t get overwhelmed. Figure out what you want your business to do this year and create some specific, concrete goals based on this.
Then take those goals, break them down further if necessary and then start planning out the tasks you need to do to achieve those outcomes.
Then the biggest challenge of all. Taking massive action on those tasks without getting distracted.
Now, we want to help you make 2010 a life changing year. But how can we help best?
One of our company goals this year is to give you guys more. In 2009 we had lots of projects going on and in hindsight, we feel like we didn’t give enough back through AssociatePrograms.com.
We plan to change that for this year.
So we’ve put together a quick 11 question survey that will hopefully give us more insight into what you guys want.
It will only take about 2 minutes.
Now, we’ve got a little bribe too. :)
To get as many people filling it out as possible we’re giving away 100 Premium WordPress templates free to everyone who completes it.
Would you mind filling it out so we can serve you better? Go here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ap2010
We’ll leave it up just a short time so if you can do it now we would appreciate it. It won’t take long and it will mean we can give you far more tailored content.
You’ll get access to those templates on the “thanks for completing page”.
Here’s that link again: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ap2010
Thanks! :)

Thought for today: The secret of getting ahead
==========================
“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.”
– Mark Twain.
