In this traffic building article, I’m going to discuss how you can expand on the work that you are already doing on your site and off your site to build links and traffic. It’s important to leverage your time or you will end up running around trying to do the work of five people yet succeeding at doing the work of none.
It brings me back to the point that I make over and over about systems. Develop a system that you always follow e.g. write an article, add it to your site, social bookmark it, add a version of it to article directories, social bookmark them, and so forth.
NPC Talks about Daily Steps
In Niche Profit Classroom, Adam talks about the 21 Day Traffic Blueprint. In the blueprint he sets up the process of writing articles that use “money words” and adding them to your website on an daily basis. It’s a process that you start to repeat on a regular basis that works to improve your online success. I suggest that you can take this basic system a lot further without much more effort, by leveraging your article content.
Reusing Your Content
We all know YouTube. It’s been around for a “long” time in Internet years and it’s growth has been phenomenal. From a marketers point of view, I see it as a place where your videos can rank above millions of other results on the first page of Google. This is especially true in the local search market. A market that many affiliates never think about.
Have you ever taken the time to look to see if people are looking for the solution you are promoting at a local level e.g. SEO training in chicago. Why can’t you promote an online course so that they don’t even need to leave the office?
YouTube marketing is an additional step that you can take once you’re comfortable with the article writing process. Or, you can use it as a traffic building process all by itself.
Convert Your Articles into Videos
So what is the easiest way to convert your article into a video? Easy, look into the camera and read your article. Simple isn’t it?
Most laptops have a built in camera that will shoot very clear video and capture the audio. It’s certainly good enough for YouTube. In fact, you can shoot live into YouTube using their Record from Webcam option.
Don’t Like Your Face on TV?
Not everyone wants to speak to the camera. Personally, it’s not a problem I worry about but there are things you can do. In fact, some studies have shown that not using your face can sell products more effectively. Have you noticed the number of marketers using voice over a PowerPoint slideshow or Keynote presentation lately?
It’s very simple to put together a small PowerPoint presentation and then speak over the top of it. All you need to do is layout a set of slides, add a narration then save as a movie. I just press the next slide button as I talk to move the slideshow forward smoothly.
If this is still too difficult or time consuming, there is software like Article Video Robot which will convert your article to a video and add a synthesized voice to it for you.
Another popular way is to shoot a screen movie using software like Camtasia. There are free alternatives like CamStudio for Windows that you can use as well. Just use the software to record your demonstration of the product that you are promoting. Once you have done your video, you just need to upload it to YouTube.
One final method that I am seeing pop up all over the Internet is using Animoto. The quality of the video, audio and images that Aminoto provides is amazing. It’s well worth grabbing a free account to test it out. You can spin your article too because no two videos ever come out the same.
Filling Out a Rank Getting Title, Description and Tags
Once you have uploaded your video to YouTube, there are a few steps that you can take to improve its search engine rankings. It’s no different to doing SEO on a web page but you are allowed to put more information into the title and description. Also, the tags (keywords) are actually used by YouTube to class your video.
Fill in about 100 characters when writing your video title. Make sure that you lead with your keyword. If you look at the most viewed videos that are about the same topic as your video, you will be able to copy, reword and use them in yours.
Understand that they don’t normally rank highly because of the content of the video. Google can’t read video so the title and description must affect why they rank highly. Of course there are other factors in play such as if the video has gone viral but these won’t happen to the majority of videos on YouTube.
Start your video description with your website URL and write it out fully – https://www.associateprograms.com. You can write a long description which can include a wide range of keywords that people might be searching for. Most YouTuber’s stop typing their descriptions after just one sentence so writing a long one will help you in many ways.
One practise which I have noticed happening is after you complete your video’s description, you go and find the most popular video and copy their description into yours. Insert it below what you have already typed so anyone wanting to read it would have to click on the “More” link. Personally I would only do this if I were going to rewrite that content a little bit.
Take time to fill out the tags for your video. Have a look at what the popular videos are using and use a range of similar tags. Don’t just type in 2 or 3. Take the time to fill in 10 or more
Reusing your Videos
Once you have completed your video, you don’t have to upload it only once.
Let me repeat that… you don’t have to upload it only once. Funny isn’t it! I had never thought about the fact that I could upload the same video 100 times with different titles and descriptions if I wanted. Why try to say the same thing different ways and make different videos when you are promoting just one affiliate product.
It makes sense to upload it with different titles and descriptions that match the commonly search for keyword phrases. This will also allow you to target long tail keywords.
Why not give it a go?
Let’s review YouTube Marketing
You can leverage the content that you have already written and use it to start your traffic building by converting it into other formats. YouTube is just one format. You can also turn it into podcasts.
The quickest way to make a video is to record live into YouTube by reading your article but there are other methods such as PowerPoint, Animoto and CamStudio that you can also use.
Once you have uploaded your video, you need to make sure that you fill out a full title, description and tags so that SEO can do its work and get your video to rank higher in the search engine and YouTube results.
Finally, you can use the same video over and over by uploading it and changing the title and description to incorporate different keywords.
Last minute thought: Don’t forget that you can use TubeMogul to also take the video and spread it out to other video sharing sites.
