You probably haven’t heard of the ATHAP affiliate technique.
I just made up the name.
I didn’t make up the technique though – it’s been earning me large affiliate commission checks for years.

1. The ATHAP affiliate technique
================================
I’ve been building niche sites for more than a decade and I own a collection of them. If someone was writing an ebook about what makes my best affiliate websites successful, I suppose they’d call one of my favorite techniques something mysterious like “The ATHAP secret”…
It’s not a secret, it’s just a successful technique that seems to be ignored by lots of affiliates who are creating niche websites.
Here’s the one thing my best affiliate sites have in common – they contain Articles That Have A Purpose (ATHAP).
They contain articles which encourage the reader to DO SOMETHING… preferably buy something.
They contain articles that lead to a purchase, articles such as case studies and product reviews.
To explain what I mean, let’s look at two different extremes.
First, let’s say you’ve hired someone to write an article called “The History of …” I don’t know… hiking boots will do. Boring! About the only useful thing your article MIGHT do is make your visitors so bored that they’ll look for somewhere else to click and will stumble across one of your AdSense links. But they could also hit the Back button, never to be seen again. They’re disappointed by your site and eager to get away.
At the other extreme, you can publish an informative product review, which gets the visitor nicely warmed up and in the mood to buy. Your article may even end with an instruction such as “Click here to get…” or “Click here to find out more”.
Why’s this important?
Look, I’ll admit it. I’ve hired people to write some “History of…” type articles. However, it definitely wasn’t those articles that made me a super affiliate. It’s case studies and product reviews.
For years, I’ve been writing and publishing articles that lead to purchases.
Not every article on your site has to be a case study or product review, but it’s a darn good idea to publish some because if they’re well written they lead to sales and very nice commission checks.
The big problem is that testing, researching and writing product reviews is terribly time-consuming. And some of us aren’t very good writers, anyway.
So how would you like to be able to have someone else – an experienced, capable writer – write those time-consuming reviews for you?
Nah, you may be thinking, it would be too difficult and too expensive to find someone good enough to write high quality product reviews.
The good news is that someone has done the hard work for you. There’s a brand new club you can join that will get you 100 private label product reviews each month at $0.47 a review – yep, that’s 47 CENTS a review.
I strongly recommend you tweak these product reviews to make them unique. Also, do research and add your own personal comments. Even doing this, you’ll still save an enormous amount of time because the basic structure of each review has been written for you – for 47 cents.
Using the content of this new club would be an interesting way to build a network of affiliate sites – or to add content to your existing sites.
Start publishing articles that have a purpose – to send you larger commission checks.

2. Tweaking your site to funnel users
=====================================
Thanks to Eric D. Burdo for this tip…
Patrick McKenzie runs a blog about starting a mISV (micro-independent software vendor) – writing and selling your own software.
“Most of his articles on marketing and website design also apply to affiliate marketing… such as this article about tweaking your site to funnel users into the path you want them to take,” Eric says.
