Associate Programs Newsletter #521
Don't be afraid to grow, says super affiliate Jeff Ostroff.
“As your business grows, you may decide you want to bring in partners to lighten the load. One can handle the finances, one can handle the technical end, and if you're hiring employees, one can run the day to day operations.”
Or you can simply form an experimental partnership for one small affiliate project. It could evolve into a brilliant success.
You've probably heard ghastly stories about business partnerships that failed disastrously, but there have also been spectacular successes.
When I interviewed Jeff recently, one of the things we discussed was his successful business partnership with two former co-workers.
Jeff has valuable insights to offer affiliates who want to grow.

Our website upgrade problems… er… challenges
It seems hard to believe that one deadline we set for the latest re-design of the AssociatePrograms.com website was June – LAST year. Somehow there always seemed to be more urgent priorities, but anyway, it's done now, except for a few rough spots that need polishing.
Our site runs on a bunch of different scripts melded together – for the forum, for the affiliate directory, for the articles, the Knowledge Base (FAQ), etc.
As you can imagine, when you upgrade one bit it's easy to alter something else by accident. And that's exactly what happened, several times. If you visited the site recently and landed on a wonky page, I'm sorry.
Our challenges were compounded by the fact that the new version of one script we upgraded turned out to have a serious bug in it.
At times like this, it makes me envious of affiliates who choose to build very simple sites. (More about that another day.)
Have a look at our re-design…
…and see what you think.
Don't trust Facebook Like numbers
It turned out to be a prank by Brad.
As part of our site re-design, we added Facebook “Like” buttons and Google+ buttons.
So far, so good.
However, for a while, EVERY article on the site was shown as being “Liked” by more than 360,000 people. Yes, that's right, 360 THOUSAND.
Whoops! Did you know it was easy to fake those “Like” numbers?
It makes you wonder how many websites display inflated “Like” numbers. Don't trust them.
Our programmer has now installed the correct Facebook code, starting at zero, which may be correct, but looks terribly embarrassing.
If you like some of our articles, please, would you mind clicking on the “Like” button to get some of those numbers up to a more respectable level?
Thank you! I'd really appreciate it.

As longtime readers will know, I sold my first product online in 1996. Since then, I've seen a LOT of Internet marketing and affiliate marketing stuff come and go. I've learned whose advice you can trust.
One really solid, dependable source of Internet marketing information that has stood the test of time – with updates as the Internet changes – is Ken Evoy's Affiliate Masters Course.
If affiliate marketing is all a bit of mystery to you, or even if you've tried it for a while but nothing seems to work well for you, I strongly recommend you read his 10-day course and take notes.
It focuses 100% on helping you succeed.
Each “day” of the course could be a week or a month.
It leads you, step by digestible step, day by day, from developing a site concept, to brainstorming hundreds of profitable related keywords, to building a themed site, to generating motivated, targeted traffic – people who want to click on your recommendations, and buy.
The course lays out a process that works.
It started as a 10-day email course and grew into a 152-page PDF ebook.
But it's still free.
Whether you're a beginner or just want a process that actually works, I strongly recommend you download this course and study it.
COMING SOON: A useful freebie
I love being able to give you stuff you can't get anywhere else.
In the next newsletter I'll tell you about a freebie that is only for readers of this newsletter.
Thought for today: Rainbows
“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” – Dolly Parton.
