1. Josh Kulp – from zero to $15k/month in 12 months
========================================
Remember Josh Kulp? I wrote about him last year. He’s the guy who earned $4,000 in his first month online.
Josh went from earning nothing online to $15,000 a month net profit, and he did it in only 12 months.
What Josh does NOT do is affiliate marketing 101 – building information-rich, keyword-rich websites and populating them with affiliate links and AdSense ads.
He has a more efficient system which gets results faster. He creates websites that work so efficiently he can afford to buy traffic to them from a variety of sources.
The big attraction for his visitors is that he gives away gifts. You can see how he does it at his site NoCostGifts.
[UPDATE: No longer online.]Basically, he collects a fast growing list of email addresses, gives away products and rewards his members with points they can redeem.
He also owns several promotional mini-sites on which he runs offers.
I interviewed Josh last year and he’s also been interviewed for the Secrets To Their Success private site.
Since then, many affiliates have been pestering him with questions, wanting to know exactly how he organizes such an efficient, profitable business.
So he’s written an ebook combined with a complete mentoring program.
There’s no fluff, no waffly theory. He just describes what he does, in simple language.
If you have any questions, he’ll answer them for you.
For example, he gives tips on the sort of gifts you can give away.
“These gifts can be whatever you choose to give away, whatever interests you,” he says, “toys, DVDs, CDs, video games, cash, long distance calling cards, gift cards, magazine subscriptions, electronics, hardware, books…”
Members sign up to be on his list, and they earn points when they take certain actions – such as applying for one of his gifts.
Josh has partnered with dozens of advertisers who provide special offers for his members to choose from. Each time one of his members selects one of these offers, Josh receives a commission.
This 57-page book is not for beginners. Josh says he uses website templates to make designing websites easier. He also recommends hiring a programmer from RentaCoder or elance to do some of the work, and tells you how to do that.
He shows you screenshots of his NoCostGifts admin area, which the programmer you hire can use as a guide. He also shows you examples of tracking techniques his programmer uses.
Because he uses “incentivized” offers, he needs to choose affiliate networks which permit them. He tells you which affiliate networks he uses.
He doesn’t optimize his sites for search engines.
He’s always used paid advertising to attract traffic. He describes the four types of advertising he uses.
He also uses what he calls a “co-registration path” which significantly lowers the cost of gaining new members. He describes how he does this and tells you which co-reg company he uses.
He aims to have 20% to 40% of visitors to his site sign up as members.
To achieve such a high conversion rate, you need a highly effective landing page. Josh explains how he designs his.
Next, Josh gives 10 pages of tips on running the business efficiently.
He ends by saying that if you have any questions at all, you can ask them on his private forum where he’ll personally help you.
That’s a very rare offer.
Wouldn’t it be fantastic if all ebook authors provided such a service?
This book covers totally new ground I haven’t seen discussed in any affiliate marketing manual.
That’s not surprising when you consider that Josh says…
“…the only Internet marketing
product I’ve read is my own.”
And he makes $15k a month. Nice going!
This book is suitable for affiliates who are ready to tackle affiliate marketing 102. Or perhaps it’s 103.
This is truly great, original stuff.
Check it out here.

2. iFulfill’s demise hits hundreds of clients
========================================
Fulfillment company iFulfill, which warehoused products for hundreds of affiliate merchants and eBay sellers, has suddenly gone out of business.
It was a victim of “rapid growth and undercapitalization”, says its founder and president, Paul Purdue.
Toledoblade.com reports that iFulfill ran into trouble on several fronts, losing customers at the same time as it made a troubled move to a new warehouse and instituted new shipping and receiving practices that did not work according to plan.
The company fell behind on bills, looked for outside funding, but was unable to get it.
Paul is trying to keep clients updated on his blog…

One of the merchants affected by the meltdown at iFulfill was Jason Potash, who had to scramble to find another warehouse to ship ArticleAnnouncer.

3. A tactic that works right now
========================================
It’s hardly a surprise, but there’s more bad news for webmasters who are building rubbishy websites.
Michael Martinez reports in LED Digest that Google is clamping down on DMOZ clones, scraper sites and RSS feed-driven sites.
As well, the SEO experts at Planet Ocean are speculating that the value of reciprocal links will diminish.
As I’ve often said, it’s inevitable that the search engines will get better and better at serving up high quality websites. Don’t try fighting against all those PhDs at Google.
However, instead of talking about theories, I prefer to talk about stuff I’ve actually seen for myself.
One tactic which works right now – TODAY – is getting one-way links from reasonable quality websites.
One of my part-time contractors has been concentrating on doing this for some of my niche sites.
The results have been very pleasing.
Here are recent monthly traffic stats for two sites:
SITE A unique visitors:
Apr: 7,511
May: 7,487
Jun: 11,610
Jul: 20,143
SITE B unique visitors:
Apr: 9,536
May: 10,576
Jun: 13,960
Jul: 15,502
Meanwhile, AdSense revenue nearly doubled from June to July.
As you can see, the search engines like this stuff.
The tactics we used are:
Some reciprocal links, fresh content added slowly, and articles distributed for one-way links.
(The articles we distribute are different from the articles we publish on our sites. We think that makes sense. You want unique content on your site. Search engines prefer unique content.)
One of the big problems with distributing articles is that it’s tedious and takes ages.
That’s why both my contractor and I have bought Jason Potash’s ArticleAnnouncer, which semi-automates the task.
In spite of the meltdown at iFulfill, our copies of the software have arrived safely.
ArticleAnnouncer has proved to be worth every penny, not just for the software, which semi-automates very tedious stuff, but for the priceless 104-page training manual and videos that come with it.
Like Jason, I’m amused to see that other marketers are now scrambling to duplicate his software.
Beware of cheap rip-offs.
It’s the WORDS – the priceless insights Jason and John Reese teach you – as well as the software, that are so valuable.
Its price reflects its value – it’s not for amateurs or dreamers.
It’s a must-have if you’re serious about generating the income that will let you live the lifestyle you want.
