Jay is an online marketing and advertising “guru” (he hates me using the “guru” tag by the way) so he knows the potential a new marketplace with 55 million subscribers and Google-like traffic offers. His friend Mark Ling offered us a Beta copy of Sky High Auctions and Jay wasn’t about to turn a blind eye to those numbers.
I know most people use eBay as “a place to buy and sell” – I use it all the time to bid my way to victory on second-hand items I really don’t need. But have you ever used eBay as a giant leverage tool or entry to a massive niche marketplace?
Like affiliate marketing and online advertising, eBay is becoming a more competitive marketplace. Why is that? Because more people understand that there are wonderful ways to connect with customers outside Google and Yahoo!
Did you know that in 2006 eBay received only 2.5% fewer visitors than Google (Nielsen Media Report)? That’s a lot of traffic. Most of this traffic is at the point of conversion too (MUCH more so than a Google searcher). In other words, they’re ready to buy. Do you think you could target your niche and monetize from 55 million subscribers?
That’s what Sky High Auctions is designed to do – guide you hand-in-hand through using eBay to tap into eBay’s traffic and expand your business in an online marketing kind of way.
Chances are good that you’ll be familiar with many of the techniques and strategies Sky High Auctions uses – after all they are advertising and marketing techniques. The point of difference is that they’re applied to a very specific marketplace that most of us have neglected to target and are unfamiliar with – eBay.
eBay trading is all about research, strategy and optimization (sounds familiar doesn’t it?) and Sky High Auctions covers all the basics to get you selling online. In case you don’t know where to source products, the course looks at finding your niche market inside eBay.
In case you’re not sure how best to list an item, they explore keyword use, title writing, payment and shipping options. It’s a comprehensive look at the eBay basics so you can move forward and efficiently use the traffic and subscriber base to grow your own niche.
The advanced techniques really make the connection between traditional online marketing strategies and Sky High Auctions. The Ad Format Listings especially (Lesson 26) were news to me – did you know that eBay now have lead-generating ads that work like an expression of interest?
– you advertise a service or product on eBay
– buyers contact you via a form
– from there you negotiate and communicate OUTSIDE EBAY to finalize sales
And if you follow Lesson 25 – How to Keep Customers Coming Back For More, you can generate return customers from eBay to your own website. Sales, list-building email addresses and return customers? This sounds more like affiliate and marketing than eBay, and that’s because it is.
The course is all about using this business-in-a-box (which is what Sky High Auctions is) and linking it back to maximize your current niche markets. Some of the techniques are conventional, others less so, but you can apply the methods to best suit your current business model.
The phrase “like a hotbed of near-converted traffic just waiting to be sold” was used in the office when we were talking about this idea of using the eBay marketplace. There’s no argument about the size or mindset of eBay traffic (millions of people who are ready to buy) so it’s more a question of “How can you tap into this traffic and what can you do with it?” Sky High Auctions shows you how marketing and advertising experts do it, and walks you through the process.
So if you’re looking for new leads, more traffic or extra sales check out the Sky High Auctions website.
