1. First, you have an idea
Then you have to DO something
Here’s what Kevin Bramlett did
=================================
About three years ago I went to an Internet marketing conference and at the end the presenter said: “Only 1% of you will actually USE the information you’ve learned today.”
If that’s true, Kevin Bramlett belongs in a pretty special group.
He does things.
Remember reading ads for the Internet Marketing SuperConference in Las Vegas?
If you couldn’t afford the time or the entry fee, you missed out on hearing tips from a line-up of big name speakers, including Ed Taylor, Marty Foley, Paulette Ensign, Kirt Christiansen, Corey Rudl, David Beroff, Jonathan Mizel, Marlon Sanders and Nicholas Schmidt.
Kevin jumped at the opportunity.
He says he spent over $700 to go to the conference, stay at a hotel, buy meals, and get fuel for the long drive from San Diego to Las Vegas.
“It took me four days to drive to the conference, attend all the functions, meet with the experts and discuss ideas . . . then make the long drive back to San Diego,” he says.
Then he spent a week digesting it all and condensing it into a report which contains what he calls “the meat that delivers on the promise of the steak’s sizzle”.
Kevin created a lengthy analysis of the most compelling secrets revealed by these experts, things you usually get ONLY when you attend these conferences.
Kevin, author of “The Web Traffic Bible”, calls his new report “The TOP TEN SECRETS I learned at the Internet Marketing SuperConference that CHANGED FOREVER the way I do business!”
Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for the conference, you can get Kevin’s excellent summary for under $20.

2. Conducent pays you for giving away software
==============================================
Here’s an offer I couldn’t resist – it’s free.
You can give away useful software and earn revenue from Conducent by doing so.
You can choose a software category to suit the interests of your visitors: Education, Entertainment, Finance, Internet or Utilities.
When they try the free software and like it, your visitors will return, building loyalty and creating repeat traffic.
The software contains advertising and Conducent will give you 5% of the revenue from the ads. Conducent will automatically track your results.
All you have to do is offer the free downloads.
“More than 40 software developers have partnered with us and integrated our technology into 100 applications, such as games, loan calculators, utilities, educational software, portfolio managers and fun tools like screensaver makers,” says Kathryn Geller Myers of Conducent.
“No one has anything to lose. We’ll set up the scripts, pay the partners and offer them – and their traffic – free software and stickiness.”
I downloaded one to try, ShortKeys Lite, a nifty little tool which now helps me save time answering e-mail or writing this newsletter.
To use it, I can just type in “ap” and hit the space bar – and zap! ShortKeys replaces “ap” with “AssociatePrograms.com”. I can use it to type whole sentences or even several paragraphs.
It’s great!
The software I’ve chosen to give away includes software for website promotion, creating animated banners, turning CDs into MP3 files, managing downloads, voice for ICQ, voice for e-mail, a tool you help you search other people’s websites, and more . . .
[UPDATE: Conducent died.]=============================================
3. Want to cash in on the aging baby boomers?
=============================================
It’s good to come across a company which is making a real effort to look after the interests of its associates – Brent McNutt’s Medicalville.com.
Brent says that aging baby boomers are creating an explosive need for the home medical equipment (HME) and supplies which his company sells. More than $12 billion was spent in 1999 on HME equipment.
There are several other good reasons for taking a close look.
- The site looks professional.
- It’s a two-tier program.
- It pays high commissions. The Invacare Ranger II FWD Sling- back Power Chair costs $4,485, so you earn $448.50 (10%) on first-tier sales and $224.25 (5%) on second-tier sales.
- Lifetime commissions. “We track visitors and customers for the life of the customer,” Brent says. So you’ll keep on earning commissions.
- You’re encouraged to provide links in any way you like – including e-mail, but not including spam, of course.
- There will be a private “associates lounge” where you can exchange tips and learn what works and what doesn’t.
- E-mail newsletters will be used to pool knowledge, share online and offline marketing ideas, and keep you abreast of the latest proven marketing strategies.
- Associates are also encouraged to create original promotional material. (This is a healthy attitude because it’s the associates who do original things who get the best results.)
Brent even suggests you sign up a newspaper company and get it to run the ads in its own publication.
If you want to set up a website to promote home medical equipment, for a $12 billion niche, it’s surprisingly uncrowded.
At GoTo.com, you can buy the TOP SPOT for these search terms at fairly low prices:
- scooter: 21 cents
- wheelchair: 12 cents
- home medical equipment: 4 cents
- powered wheelchair: 1 cent
- wheelchair cushions: 2 cents
- patient lift: 1 cent
I’m not saying this program is perfect – like nearly all merchants, Medicalville reserves the right to alter the contract at any time – but Brent certainly has the right attitude.
He has deliberately chosen to talk about “associates” rather than “affiliates” because it’s a stronger term, implying a stronger, more supportive relationship.
I hope he does well. I’ve signed up.
[UPDATE: Medicalville disappeared. GoTo became Overture and then Yahoo! Search Marketing.]===================================

5. I tried to do you a favor but . . .
======================================
Have you joined the new gold rush – the one for L-O-N-G domain names of up to 63 characters?
I rushed in and chose six keyword-stuffed domain names which should be useful for cross-linking websites, to increase their ranking in search engines. Michael Campbell describes that technique in detail in his popular book, “Nothing But Net”.
[UPDATE: Michael Campbell has stopped selling this product. If you want a really good, comprehensive instruction manual on affiliate marketing, I recommend Rosalind Gardner’s Super Affiliate Handbook. Here’s a review of Super Affiliate Handbook.]First, I tried to buy the names at https://www.totalNIC.net , which charges only $35 for TWO years.
Unfortunately, the application process timed out, and my e-mail query still hasn’t been answered.
Perhaps I was just unlucky, or perhaps TotalNIC is swamped.
I decided I couldn’t risk letting someone else grab the domain names I wanted, so I rushed off to another registrar.
I recommend trying https://www.totalNIC.net first.
Kirk VandenBerghe of https://askAlana.com backs me up on that. “My experience with these folks has been excellent to date,” Kirk says. “Fast, streamlined process. As my domains come up for renewal, this is where they’re all going.”
If you have any trouble getting a name at totalNIC, don’t waste any more time. For $60 for two years you can grab some of those 63-character domain names (67 including the .com).
========================================
6. You can switch to a cheaper registrar
========================================
Michael Teague of SailCat Graphics – https://www.SailCat.com – writes:
“. . .since you broached the subject (and turned us on to a
real money-saver at https://www.totalNIC.net ) I have a
question.
“Those of us who have been in the business for a while are
subject to renewal of our domain name(s). Must we renew where
we registered originally or may we do so at one of the emerging
registration services at a lower rate?”
Michael, you can switch to a cheaper registrar. TotalNIC says that transferring domains between registrars costs $35 (US) including the first 2 years of service with TotalNIC. “Unfortunately any existing credit you may have at NSI or elsewhere cannot be passed on to your TotalNIC account.”

9. How to automate sending checks
=================================
Jim Reardon of https://www.sitegadgets.com writes:
“I’ve been running a pay program on one of my sites, and it’s been going well … is there an easy way to automate sending checks? Say I have a list (text file) of people who have earned checks … any software you know of that will format/print them out?”
I sought help on this from the ever-helpful Linda and Janice at https://makemy.sitesell.com .
Here’s their reply:
“At the end of each month, a script is run through a tab separated text file which is then imported into a Filemaker database which prints the envelopes, the cheques, etc. The only thing it can’t do is automate the envelope licking. :-)
“It takes about 2-3 hours to set up the text field.”
