1. How to create your own product in 10 to 20 hours
===================================================
Marlon Sanders, author of “The Amazing Formula That Sells Products Like Crazy” – https://www.associateprograms.com/amazing – is launching a series of new products paying 50% commissions.
The latest product is enticingly titled “How to Create Your Own Products in a Flash”.
“What distinguishes this product from others is that it is NOT about creating ebooks,” Marlon says. “It’s a faster, simpler, much more powerful approach.
“No one else is teaching this. Plus, it contains my ultra- powerful 12-product gang test method.”
It’s possible to create your own product even if you…
Don’t have expertise in a field
Aren’t very good at writing
I learned about “How to Create Your Own Products in a Flash” only today and haven’t had time to study it yet, but it’s bound to be a high quality product, because all Marlon’s products are.
He offers an ironclad money-back guarantee.

2. Why Seth Godin’s new technique will work
===========================================
Here’s an intriguing viral marketing technique. Seth Godin, author of the best-seller “Permission Marketing”, is giving away downloads of his new book, “Unleashing The Ideavirus”.
He’s offering the entire “book” free.
You can download it at https://www.ideavirus.com and read an article about it at newsbytes.com/pubNews/00/152236.html
“We create and market ideas,” Godin told Newsbytes. “The best way is to give your idea to as many people as you can and they’ll start giving it out themselves.” (Just the way I am now.)
Will giving away downloads actually achieve hardcopy sales?
Yes, it will.
Here’s an example. In 1996 I wrote an ebook, “50 Fabulous Gluten- Free Recipes”. I now give the “book” away on a hobby site – but I still regularly receive requests from people who want to buy a hardcopy version. I received one today.
Seth has the success of a best-seller behind him to give his viral marketing campaign a high-powered boost.

3. How onResponse’s viral marketing will boost sales
====================================================
When onResponse began talking about paying out on “infinite tiers” I thought it must have switched to multi-level marketing.
However, what the pay-per-lead network is really talking about is an interesting form of viral marketing.
Like DirectLeads, WebSponsors and Puzz.com, onResponse offers various free and trial offers on which you can earn commissions without selling anything. You can also earn referral fees for sending website owners to onResponse.
Now that onResponse has introduced FreebieClub, you can promote individual offers or simply refer your visitors to FreebieClub, and earn a commission on any of the offers there.
It’s at this stage that onResponse introduces an innovative touch.
Affiliate Program Manager Warren Corpus described it in simple language for me:
“You (the affiliate) refer a member to FreebieClub. Say that member generates a lead for The Gator (gator.com). The regular affiliate commission for this offer is $1.50. You earn $1.50 for this lead.
“Now the freebieclub.com member who you referred sends his cousin to freebieclub.com and he joins. He in turn downloads The Gator. You again earn $1.50.
“This cousin refers his boss, who in turn refers his wife. Now we are at the fourth tier. If the wife downloads The Gator, you still earn your $1.50.”
To boost the pass-on effect, OnResponse rewards FreebieClub members for introducing new members.
FreebieClub members have a chance to win $100 or $25,000. For a chance to win, all they have to do is register.
For every additional visitor they refer, members win five “freebiecoins”, each of which entitles them another chance to win. Winners are listed daily.
Because so many people are lured by the word “free”, the viral marketing ought to work well.
[UPDATE: OnResponse was bought by ValueClick.]========================================
4. Whoops! Mike overlooks copyright laws
========================================
Mike Previn made one serious mistake when he created his Salvadore Dali Art Gallery – https://www.dali-gallery.com . He didn’t ask for permission to publish Dali’s art.
“As it turns out, the copyright for displaying his works is owned by the state of Spain, and they have contacted me to resolve the issue of the copyright,” Mike says.
“I’m negotiating with them right now to keep the works on the site. Most likely, I’d have to pay some kind of a fee to keep displaying the works on the site. If they ask for too much, many of the paintings will have to go. I’d really hate for that to happen, but it might.
“What have I learned from this? Not to screw around with copyrighted material. However, I feel that because my site is there for non-commercial, educational purposes (excluding the store), people who can’t afford to buy his painting albums or travel to the museums in Florida or Spain should have a right to view his art online. But enough of my whining.”
Russian-born Mike (Mishka) lives in Palo Alto, California, and works at Trimble Navigation in Sunnyvale as a software engineer, developing GPS receivers – devices which cars use to navigate on the roads.
A few years ago he visited the Dali museum in St Petersburg, Florida, and was so impressed by the abstract art that he decided to put an extensive collection of Dali’s works online. His Salvadore Dali Art Gallery displays more than 1500 works (oil paintings, drawings, etchings, watercolors, and objects), analyses of some works, a free Salvador Dali screensaver, and windows desktop wallpapers. There’s even a Dali perfume.
“I’m not really trying to make money with my site,” Mike says. “Whatever I make is just because people like the site and feel comfortable buying through my links.”
Mike says he earns “peanuts” – about $140 a month – from the site, about 90% of it from art.com, and the rest from Amazon.com and Barewalls.com.
The site attracts 400 to 500 unique visitors a day on weekdays and about 300 a day at weekends. He used to spend about 10 to 15 hours a week working on it when he was setting it up but hasn’t worked on it for about a year.
Mike says he has been lazy about promoting the site
“Most of the visitors come from Yahoo. Some people put links to the gallery on their web pages. I don’t really promote the site much. The word just spreads around, I guess.”
Here’s Mike’s advice for website owners who have mostly non- profit, educational or entertainment web sites:
“Stop flooding your sites with banner ads and such. It distracts from enjoying the site to the fullest. Also, amateur web designers should use soft and light background and dark text font colors on their pages – many web pages are so hard to read because of ‘red foreground on blue background’ and such. I click my browser’s ‘Back’ button the second I have to strain my vision to make out a word on a web page. I’m sure many other people do too.”
Lessons learned:
If you aim for a small niche with few competitors you can attract useful traffic fairly easily.
A small hobby site can continue to earn income long after most of the work has been done.
Don’t mess with copyright laws.

5. PayPal now offers batch processing
=====================================
PayPal, a Web-based service that lets you send and receive payments electronically, has launched its Batch Pay service, which should be useful for affiliate merchants who don’t want to handle checks. I imagine the full impact of this won’t be felt until PayPal goes international.
Check out PayPal here:

[UPDATE: PayPal has gone international.]==============================
6. “I’m so glad you found him”
==============================
I received this wonderful letter from Lorri Nevil of https://kaelinweb.net :
“I ordered software for my daughter from PublishersPipeline late Friday evening.
“Got an e-mail Saturday saying it was shipped. We had it in our hot little hands Monday at 11:30 a.m.
“Great stuff for sure! Glad you found him (Paul Jacobson) – it’s always a pleasure to be able to promote something that not only will you use yourself, but use multiple times. It is never easier to sell/promote something you believe in when they are this good!
“My 5 year old and 9 year old start back to school in a few weeks and I can assure you it will be nice to have PublishersPipeline to be able to help support our teachers and kids, look like I’m SO generous but in reality getting rebates!”
It’s nice to hear from a satisfied customer. You can check out the affiliate program for Paul’s high quality free and nearly free software here:

7. New optimization tool for GoTo.com saves time
================================================
GoTo.com is wonderful, but it has a major flaw.
If you’re buying number two spot, for example, with a bid of 10 cents, you’re paying 3 cents per click too much if the person on the third spot is paying only 6 cents. You could pay only 7 cents and still retain your ranking.
You have three choices:
You decide to accept the fact that you’re probably paying too much in many cases.
You manually check all your bids regularly.
You use an optimization tool to check your bids.
Here’s some good news.
Nathan Power has been testing a new optimization tool for Goto.com that will make your life a whole lot easier.
“You will save hours every week by using this new tool to manage your bids and optimize your keyword rankings,” Nathan says in his review.
The Keyword Bid Optimizer (KBO) shows you which keywords you should bid more on and which ones you shouldn’t be bidding on at all. It saves you money by letting you know when you can lower your bids without affecting your keyword’s rank.
You may know about Robert Woodhead’s optimization tool. In his review, Nathan explains ways in which this new tool is better.
It has a two-tier affiliate program paying 20% and 5% commission.

8. We say good-bye to 600 dead email addresses
===============================================
If you keep an eye on the number of subscribers the Associate Programs Newsletter has, you will have noticed that we’ve lost about 600 subscribers since last week.
Apparently they weren’t real subscribers – or not readers, anyway.
Advertising.com, which now owns OakNetPub.com which distributes the newsletter, cleaned out the dead e-mail addresses. I guess that means when we hit the 15,000 mark for the second time Joanna and I will be forced to celebrate all over again.
==============================================
9. CJ won’t charge fee for currency conversion
==============================================
Commission Junction announced recently that affiliates can choose to be paid in any of 30 currencies.
Tom Evans Editor of Joke Email – https://www.jokeemail.com – has some good news to add. He checked with CJ, which confirmed that it won’t charge or use preferential bank rates when converting currency for international affiliates.

10. New, better link tracking script
====================================
Eldon Sarte, publisher of “The Dirtsmart Netpreneur Ezine” has teamed up with William Bontrager, publisher of Willmaster Possibilities and CGI programmer extraordinaire, to market one of William’s extremely useful scripts.
The ProLinkz script is a powerful and easy-to-use link tracker, redirector/disguiser, and manager for all of your site’s promo and internal links.
It has many possible uses, but the most obvious is using it to test which links get the click and which links don’t.
As you probably know, you can get a good free link tracking script simply by joining Ken Evoy’s free affiliate program – https://www.associateprograms.com/affiliates .
The ProLinkz script is even better.
For example, there’s a big difference in how the statistics are presented, Eldon says.
“Theirs is fixed to how they report the stats. We let you see hit stats for: the last 24 hours, this week, last week, this month, last month, and ANY range you specify.”
ProLinkz also has pop-up help windows to make using the script even easier.
William Bontrager is “the best Perl programmer I know. Extremely conscientious (and I do mean extreme), very very responsive, and fast. I usually just mention an idea, and next thing I know, it’s implemented,” Eldon says.
“I feel ProLinkz is already tops in its class. But I suspect that as we get feedback, ideas and suggestions from users, this thing will evolve in very beneficial ways that even I can’t imagine or anticipate.”
ProLinkz costs $45 and pays 20% commission.

12. What they’re saying about me
================================
Mark Brownlow has some embarrassingly kind things to say about me and the Associate Programs Newsletter at the Internet Business Forum, which has just officially launched after months of tests.
See if you agree with him:

The Internet Business Forum, whose chairman is David Yancey, offers a forum for marketers, a range of useful newsletters, and more.
With true professionals such as Mark, David and Edwin behind the Internet Business Forum, it’s difficult to see how it can be anything but a success.

13. Thought for today: Why you need goals
=========================================
A man without a goal will go one mile down 100 paths. A man with a goal will go 100 miles down one road.
All the best
