I received a spammy private message today from a forum member. The post was addressed to "Dear Friend" and was anonymous.
We have a "Common Sense" rule in our instructions which covers a whole lot of things, including situations like this.
However, I've decided to add a new rule to the instructions, spelling it out...

This forum has a private message system. You can click on PM under a post to send a private message to the author of the post. Members who misuse the PM system will be banned.
I've deliberately not defined "misuse". I think the vast majority of forum members are intelligent people who don't need to be told in precise detail how to behave reasonably.
