Earlier I've used wordpress.com for blogging. Now i want to move my hosting. Are there any good recommendations for hosting a wordpress blog?

You can easily install wordpress if you chose a host which has Fantastico. The disadvantage is, that you don't always have the latest version when you install it with fantastico , so it could be a security risk.

You can install it manually. It's not so hard to do, you can find instructions in the internet how to do it.

Are you proposing to move the blog itself?

I wonder if it would make sense to start a new blog on a new domain; then link to the new site from your existing blog so that your new site gets the benefit of existing search-engine page rank? It would also avoid the problem of duplicate content in your new blog.

I think that's the way I would handle it. There may be other views Smile

Restore your files.

Wordpress is just one blog script provided by fantastico among many other blog/template scripts. There are also many types of free blog scripts outside of fantastico.

I also installed wordpress, I got web shoting from eskhosting.com (really cool guys by the way) and I preferred not to install wordpress from fantastico. What I did: I just got wordpress installation and have asked technical support to assist me, since i am not that technical person. So there is an option if you got a good hosting and technical support willing to help you, as most of the hosts I ve been with previosly refused to make installations saying that they can only care about web hosting...

You can use the EDIT feature to fix up any thing in a message. Saves making those correction messages.

Thier are many hosting companies that will host a wordpress blog. You have alot of choices.

I know that Eskhosting http://www.eskhosting.com has recently launched Blog hosting woth Wordpress installed, though I host with them not a blog but regular web sites, very good company to stay with

I chose Bluehost for my blog hosting. It installs in 2-seconds and you're ready to go.

A bit pricier than Godaddy or 1&1, but the service is excellent.
