If you want free solution, you can compare blogger.com with wordpress.com.
I still thinking blogger is better for free solution.
however if you want personal blog. you must use paid hosting and choose your own domain name.
In this way, you can customize anyway you want. such as customize your theme and add plugin. _________________ The 118 Most Useful Wordpress Plugins |

WP is more SEO friendly as it allows more modification. Again, there are hundreds of plug ins which can be obtained for free. Adsense integration is also better with WP as you can control the position and appearance to a great extent. _________________ 16 Year old kid From Australia Reveals...

I don't get by what you mean with all the plugins for WP...
How do you use them?
And using WP on your website? How?!? _________________ Fitness and nutrition tips for todays geek! |

Sindicut,
WP is open source code which allows for others, (anyone) to write code that is interactive with it.
So this "openness" allows for the more creative of us (not me, I just know how to use 'em not write em) that know how to write PHP code to create "plugins" that automatically do things that make WordPress easier to use.
A 'Plugin' can make WP change the title of your post and add keywords to it for SEO, tag your posts keywords and interlink your blog...
Tag meaning it can notify some very high ranking sites that you have content related to to the term (or keyword) you tagged.
A plugin can help add video to your blog, a WordPress plugin can place Google AdSense ads anywhere you want on your blog.. add social bookmark sites like Digg, Technorati and a plethora of others.
The list goes on and on...
My point is if you are not using a WordPress blog on your own domain and can post something relevant to your niche everyday you are throwing away traffic. _________________ Jeff Houdyschell

Would I need another program to run these 'Plugins' or do they just upload with my browser?
I was looking, and I found the Adsense one, but it seems like it needs a thirdparty program to use. _________________ Fitness and nutrition tips for todays geek! |

You do not need a another program to run the plugins.
You can just activate it through the Wordpress admin panel.
First upload the plugin u want into ur server.
Then log into your wordpress admin panel and click on the plugins tab to activate them. _________________ Hop Into Where Fun Is Now!

All you need for a self-hosted WordPress blog is your own domain, a good hosting account and an FTP program to upload the files. The only thing you need to pay for is the hosting,WordPress is free to download and use and there are tons of free plugins and themes.
With some hosting companies you can add a WordPress blog right from the control panel known as a Fantastico install, no need to upload the files. Bluehost.com is one of them.
But to add new themes and plugins you will still need to upload them into the proper directory on your blog.
There is a plugin for WordPress called the Installer.
If you install and activate the 'installer' first then you can upload most themes and plugins right from the WP dashboard.
The guy who wrote the Installer no longer supports it and it is hard to find.
I have a post with video about the Installer plugin on my blog here: http://www.esmartjob.com/blog/wordpress-blog/the-first-wordpress-plugin-to-install-the-installer _________________ Jeff Houdyschell

Just to add a little fuel to the fire, I'd also recommend using Squidoo. They even give you revenue if your lens gets loads of traffic - or you can share the revenue or give it to charity.
You can create a whole stable of lenses - each one targetting a new topic; it is very search engine friendly and getting more popular all the time.

I prefer Wordpress, but I like to have my blogs hosted on my own domains, instead of a blogger.com I had a free website years ago, and I was worried that free blogs may go the same way that they did.
It's fairly easy to import your blogger blog into Wordpress, so why not try blogger first, until you decide whether blogging is really for you. _________________ Catherine Lawson's Business Advice Blog |

Russell, it honestly isn't v hard to learn at all. I struggle to grasp new technology all the time, and I managed it.
When I first tried to install Wordpress, I struggled, so I used blogger for a while instead. Then I found a webhost that allowed you to install wordpress with a click of a button. I chose bluehost, but I believe there are others also. It was very easy to do.
Then I just messed about with it for a while until I got the hang. Once you've got it installed, you just click a button to import your blogger posts. Then you can change the look of it all by downloading new themes, widgets, plugins etc. You honestly won't regret trying it.
If u get stuck, shoot me a private message, and I will try to help. _________________ Catherine Lawson's Business Advice Blog |

Go with Wordpress. It is a traffic magnet. I had blogger blogs in the past, but I switched to Wordpress.
It's a must do. I am biased! _________________ ==> AffiloBlueprint Affiliate Marketing Training.
