Hi,

Does anyone know of any product authors/creators who allow their
affiliates to use their ecourses/articles to promote their products?

Thanks,

Andy,

Do you mean using someone else's e-course to market YOUR own separate and different product?

Jimmy Brown's Automatic Income Streams provides a good step-by-step formula for whipping up your OWN e-course, but the only ready-made ecourse's I've seen available for others to use are those that are meant to plug the author's products.

Best wishes,
James

Post subject: Advice You Can Take To The Bank ... 10 Tips

Hey, Andy -

As you know, having registered for my FCS affiliate program, I offer lots of stuff to help my affiliates.

I have a full PR kit prepared by Dr Kevin Nunley, a bunch of articles, links to recent teleseminars I've done, 2 different email series for the 'lookers' and our affiliates, and other stuff.

The 'trick' in affiliate marketing is not so much the tools that are available to people ... it's the people who will get out and do something ... and use the tools ... and make the effort.

People seem to give up too easily. They take a shot or two, get all discouraged, and quit ... or blame the program they're marketing, or comment that "This Internet marketing stuff does not work."

My Advice:

1. Buy the product you intend to market, or your credibility in marketing it is less than ideal. If it's not worth you buying it, how can you truthfully testify that someone else should buy it?

2. Market a new product whenever possible, so the competition for your product is much less than with older products. Older products start to get 'beat up' in the market, and people see your efforts as just another person selling the same ol' thing everyone else is peddling.

3. Market a new product because 'new' sells better than 'old.' That "New" tag helps so much.

4. Market a product you can personally believe in. And market for someone you personally trust. If someone takes advantage of a person you sent them, your reputation suffers, as well ...

5. Market a product with good endorsements because it adds to your credibility. That's why testimonials and endorsements are so powerful.

6. Market a product with a selling price high enough that you make enough money to make your efforts worthwhile. It's just as much work marketing a cheap or crummy product as it is to market a wonderful, higher-ticket item. One just pays better and is more fun ...

7. Market a product that has the "Oh, Wow!" factor when people see it. Without this, people just hit delete or ignore you.

8. Have fun. Do something you can be enthusiastic about. Your energy and enthusiasm translates into marketability.

9. Don't give up. Be persistent and diligent. Learn from your mistakes. Each one gets you closer to your successes.

10. Treat it like a business. If you do, you'll have a much better chance of being in that 10% who figure it all out, instead of being in the 90% who think this is all a "Get rich quick" 3-card-Monte game.

Hope this helps -

God Bless you,
Chip Tarver

Thanks for the help, James and Chip.

No, James, I realize using someone else's articles or ecourses wouldn't help marketing my own products. I meant was using other peoples articles/ecourses to market their (the product owner's) products as an affiliate. This would allow me to simply offer these articles to be published in certain locations, and use my affiliate link in the articles. The ecourses would allow me to build my own list, following up with people about the products offered by the product owner. It's win-win, because the product owner gets free advertising and more publicity about their products, and I make an affiliate commission off any sales.

But anyone who is interested in posting those articles would have enough sense to do the same as you mention ... put their affiliate link in the article.

Seems to me you would be better off creating new and quality content articles yourself, create your own product, and market those.

Unless you can negotiate the sole rights to share the merchants materials, I agree.

Do you think Allan G would have been anywhere near as successful if he just cut and pasted other people's articles?

Hope this helps,
Charlie.

Hello Andy,

I agree with Debs. When you have your OWN product, you not only have complete control of the product, but YOU decide how to market it, and whether you want affiliates or not. Assuming the FTC doesn't take issue with it, of course.

If you feature it in your own ecourse at lease you'll know that nobody can cheat you out of your cut. Whether someone replaces an affiliate link with their own, you STILL get PAID. Because you are still the BOSS!

Being an affiliate--actually a dealer--was costly for me a while back when I received a nice writeup in Income Opportunities magazine for an opportunity manual I was a dealer for.

It had taken about a year before the press release I had sent in actually got used. By the time it ran, the owner of the product had discontinued it. Meanwhile, I started getting all these checks and money orders from all over. It was a royal nightmare! Talk about losing credibility...

Had I just have taken the time to produce my own manual--which I could have easily done had I not been so doggone lazy--I could have been building a super responsive house list instead of issuing refunds. The only good thing was that I had also received publicity about my Opportunity or Scam report which I had written, so at least it wasn't a total loss.

Anyway, just wanted to second Deb's motion. Hope I didn't bore you all with the "painful" memories.

Best wishes,
James

Thanks for everyone's advice. I really appreciate it.

However, I am already aware of the fact that it's important to get your own product out there, but I also know that it's EQUALLY as important to begin AT LEAST marketing other people's products through affiliate programs to get the ball rolling.

As for the fact that people will just replace my affiliate link with theirs, first of all, that would be unethical if they haven't received permission to do so. Second of all, articles are submitted all over the Internet on various lists and websites without changing the author's url. Most publishers are willing
to simply have the free content for their publications/websites to give to their subscribers/visitors, because they make money off other items.

Knowing all this, my #1 objective of my post was simply to see if anyone knew of anyone who allowed their affiliates to use their articles/ecourses. I already have the permission of 3 well-known marketers to do this very thing, I'm simply just looking to see if anyone else would allow me to do so.

If I place their articles in different locations, my first rule for the owners of the lists/websites is that the article remain unchanged. If they agree to it, great. If not, I won't use their resource. That simple.

Finally, a product owner who has an affiliate program set up would be foolish to not allow an affiliate to post his articles in as many places as possible, because if it weren't for the affiliate's efforts, the product owner wouldn't have made a dime in those resources. And the savvy, experienced product owners on the net know this.

There are several people on the net who have made 100% of their income, and many who have made over $100K/year, with nothing but other people's products through affiliate programs. Besides, what better way to make a living than to get paid by simply marketing, and not having to hire anyone, ship anything, or deal with customer service issues?

Sounds like a no-brainer to me....

Sometimes building a list but promoting other people's products can be a nice compromise. Not everyone is happy to take on the responsibilities of customer and affiliate support.

Just a thought,
Charlie.

You have a point, Charlie.

And like I think you've pointed out before, affiliate commission theft isn't as great a problem outside the internet marketing universe. I still believe it's best to control your own product if you can, but as with the success of Rosalind Gardner using other people's products, it obviously isn't the ONLY way.

Best wishes,
James

So do I. It is the best way to full time income for many people.

Actually Rosalind Gardner does have her own product, too... an ebook about making money from affiliate programs (surprise, surprise), so maybe Allan is a "purer" example. Smile

Cheers,
Charlie.
