Thanks for all the replies, everyone---this is a real interesting conversation!
I think I've done many of the preliminary steps over the past year or two. For instance, I signed up as one of Ken Evoy's affiliates back in 2002, even though I didn't have a clue how to move forward. It just seemed to me that he had some "winners" for products there. I've taken his e-courses and read lots of his material. I agree; there's a lot of content in his stuff!
Also, I know some very basic HTML--haven't taken the time to go beyond that. Probably took the easy way out by buying a point-and-click building package... (But that's because I am so excited to get started!)
And I sure do agree with what was said about Jeff Mulligan--I like his approach too. He has a way, that's for sure.
I did read that CB Mall could be promoted without a website, but, at this point, I WANT to do a website, just to see what happens. The confusing thing is, some say to do mini-sites, others say to do larger content sites...I'm sure there has been much discussion about this on these boards before!
I'm noting all these comments to see which steps I haven't covered yet. Some I have, some I was going to try, but wasn't sure about--but now I might.
Anyway, I appreciate all the helpful tips here!
Enjoy your evening

Hello, everyone !
I'm brand new to this forum, but felt a little sympathy for Becky here, so i thought I'd give her a few words.
First of all, I am a computer engineer for the last 29 years (!). My special field is analysis and design of large databases (Oracle), and I feel I have tons of experience with it. I decided I would share this experience with others and at the same time make money. To tell you the truth: I hate HTML... I do not intend to be an expert on it, rather use pieces others have tested earlier. My daughter tolb me about SBI, which a friend of her used. I checked it out for two days, and my daughter and I bought it 2 months ago. It looks to have most of what I want, so that I can concentrate on content (writing sellable articles) instead of writing HTML. We still haven't set up a web page: We are playing the keyword game in SBI still ! However, I am soon ready to create the home page, and I wonder:
Anyone who can help me with links to software for creating ebook covers. Freeware will also be appreciated...
I'll inform you when I'm up and running ! |

I'm posting this strictly to see if my signature block shows up (didn't see a "practice" area here)...
Even though none of you here will need to visit my CB Mall, lol, I'm trying to include my link in as many places as I can, thanks to the good suggestions made to me here in this thread!
As soon as I make my first sale, I'll be back to tell you about it _________________ All the best,

Way to go, Becky!
I also purchased the CB Mall and very recently put the search engine tool on my site. It doesn't work quite the way I expected, but like you, I'll give it a try.
The thing I find the most IRRITATING about the CB Mall has nothing to do with Jeff Mulligan. It's that due to Clickbank's screwing around with their hoplink policies, now our hoplinks are fully visible in bold, bare-naked fashion in the address bar--and changeable--once you click on a product link.
This is TOTALLY the fault of Clickbank, not CB Mall, but until someone comes up with a fix, it's there.
Anyone aware of how to fix this problem?
Best wishes,

I'd sit tight for a little while and see how things unfold. ClickBank have changed their minds already, and they might do again, if this proves very unpopular. Why not tell them what you think?

Hullo Charlie,
What's the weather like out there in the land of the misty moors?

That's more or less what I'm going to do. But I'm still pertubed about the way Clickbank did this. I mean, with all the software packages specifically written to mask or hide affiliate links, you would have thought Clickbank would have been sensitive to their customers concerns instead of doing the exact opposite and rendering all the masking tools useless.
By the way, the last time I wrote to Clickbank, I got a very strange, canned response that didn't in any way address my question or concern. Of course, that doesn't mean I can't try again.
Thanks for the feedback, Charlie.

So, if you go the way Mike recommends, you don't need a CB Mall but just can go to CB and find the appropriate affiliate programs yourself. _________________ Explore The Most Up to Date Site About How to Succeed with Adwords! |

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that buying CB Mall was a case of "if it sounds too good to be true..."
I'm not saying that people CAN'T be successful promoting it---I'm just saying that it's probably not the best idea for me.
Since I love to write, and have always written, it might make more sense for me to spend my time creating something of my own, rather than trying so hard to promote somebody else's creation.
Don't get me wrong---I'm still going to be an affiliate. It's just that I'm going to be more selective and make a "better match" for me, rather than continue doing what is probably a "newbie" thing, signing up for just about everything that has an affiliate program and then trying to use all those affiliate links somewhere to get people to click!
I'd still to love to hear about it though if anyone earns some serious cash by promoting CB Mall! _________________ All the best,

James,
I use quite a lot of ClickBank products on my site and I found that the hoplinks were - as you said - way too visible. So I learned to insert the simplest, easiest line of javascript code into the HTML.
Now the hoplink does NOT show in the bottom left hand corner of the browser, nor does it show until AFTER the person has clicked and the cookie been registered.
This was my small attempt at saving my own links from affiliate hi-jackers and - since I put this code on my site - my sales have almost tripled.
Let me see if I can give you an example of the code....
<a href="http://hop.clickbank.net/?duckworth/fiction"><img
src="http://www.fictionfactor.com/images/ad1.gif" align="top" border="0" width="120" height="120" alt="Write, Create and Promote a Best-Seller!"
onmouseover="self.status='Write, Create and Promote a Best-Seller Today!'; return true"
onmouseout="window.status=' ';return true;"></a>
Paste that line of code into the body of any HTML. An animated banner will show up. If you hover your mouse over the banner, you will only see the description in the bottom left hand corner that says "Write, Create and Promote a Best-Seller Today! - and not the URL of the page destination. The 'alt' tag also reflects the exact same information.
Of course, not everyone likes images or banners all over their sites, so the same code can be inserted into a normal URL (text link) and still give the same results.
Here is the code for a normal text link. On a web page, a visitor will see the words "Click here to learn more". The bottom left-hand corner of your browser will show the words "Write a Best Seller Today!".
<a href="http://hop.clickbank.net/?duckworth/fiction" onmouseover="window.status='Write a Best Seller Today!';return true;" onmouseout="window.status=' ';return true;"> Click here to learn more</a>
I hope this is the kind of thing you were after.

I also bought CBMall and I have made $44.30 on it after only a month. All I did was put the CBMall search engine on my web site, on my book review page and mention that it has over 40 books on health to choose from.
My site is still struggling for visitors - I only average around 60-70 a day so I think this is quite a good return. Also if you buy anything from Click bank you can buy it via your CBmall and get it for half price. Although of course you can do this anyway if you join the associate programs separately.
I don't recommend anyone to purchase it but all is not lost if you did! _________________ How to sleep well every night |

Hey Becky,
It doesn't have to be one or the other. You can create something of your own, and then link to the page of the CBMall that is most relevant to your content. CBMall could be just one of the affiliate programs you "presell" from your own content site.

Blimey, I wondered why there was so much interest.
Cheers,

CBMall is a great product. It helps to have an existing sales angle and add CBMall to your product offerings.
Still, Jeff Mulligan provides tons of support resources which can help you make money with your CBMall.
The key is to use them.
