Hi eyes2005,
I don't see the reason why you're going
after that domain, because I believe
it's not a profitable niche.
When I checked with a trusted keyword tool,
there are only 7 searches daily for
the term of "student loan sources" and
ZERO demand for "student loan source".
?
Warmly,

But how many were there for "student loan"? Surely that's the key point?
The "sources" one looks better to me. The use of one hyphen in a three-word domain looks odd, though. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Hemm... I suggest you try:
StudentLoanInformation.biz
or
StudentLoanInformationSource.com
(both still available)
There are around 700 daily searches for
"Student Loan Information" with only
184,000 "supply" in Google.
I think it's more promising than only
targeting "student loan", because the
competition is more fierceful with
"student loan"...
By the way, if you haven't decided where
to buy your Domain Name, I suggest you
try www.StartLogicHost.com
They offer FREE Domain Name and Setup
along with their cheap hosting fee
(no hidden fees and a 300GB storage)
I believe the price is still $5.95/month.
Hope this helps!
Warmly,
Ed |

Me too. Hyphens between each word or none at all. Looks spammy, as it stands. Bear in mind that the domain you choose will be displayed wherever you appear in SERPs. You have to think of any entry as an ad - even if you are not paying for it. People still need to be attracted by the title, description and domain.
But the point to remember is that there is a big difference between a domain name and a niche. Leaving aside the arguable benefits of a domain name as a catchy brand, and assuming you want your keyphrase in the domain...
Sending the SEs a consistent message about your niche is much more important than the exact words you employ in the domain, these days. The domain itself is just a slightly useful part or a much bigger picture. Every bit helps, but I'd go for something that looks natural every time.
Hope this helps,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

For a site with this kind of theme I'd be tempted to go for something like:
financeyourstudentlife.com
but I'll be the first to admit I'm no sort of expert when it comes to keywords and so on so I'll hand back to the pros. |

but shouldn't a domain have one or both of these aspects?
A: some sort of keyword (preferably)
B: easy to remember |

While all this chat is going on I've bought all the domains mentioned.
They'll cost you $ 100 each!
Just joking, but in reality it's not wise to post domains you are thinking about using on forums. There are many who will beat you to them and then offer to sell them "back" to you.
There have been many threads on forums about people just checking possible domain names on places like GoDaddy and finding them clear. Then when they go back later to purchase, someone has beat them to it.
I personally don't know if this is true, or not. But I will tell you I would never post a domain I was thinking of using anywhere until it was mine.
I'll check whois directly and if it shows as available I make a decision then and there. I'd sooner buy 3 at $ 9 each and never use 2 than have one I really want get bought by someone else. _________________ Dedicated Affiliate Hosting, Help with Pages, Free Templates $ 2 USD per mo.

someone did that to me recently on the wordpress support forum, but they chose the wrong domain name, and stuck a hyphen in it. but i wasn't really thinking about sticking a hyphen in it, so someoe had obviously tried to get a foot in and only got an inch!! |

I tend to follow the thinking that using hypen is not a good choice for a domain name- aside from the claim that it looks spammy it also reveals that your site is a newer site. Make it a straight worded version with no hypen if there is one still available. _________________ Affiliate Manager
