Post subject: Adwords Ads - How to see USA Ads from Germany??

I want to see the ads from the competition, to decide how cometitive of profitable the market is.

But as google shows other ads for each country, it seems not so easy.
I live in germany, but want to see the ads that are shown in USA.
I decided to try surfing with an anonymous proxy, and have found 2 anonymizer, both with .com ending, but their IPs are from french and brazil.

This is pretty puzzling, if I surf with my german IP or with that both proxies, EACH shows english ads, but different ads! For example with brazil Proxy is shown 7 ads, with french only 3 ads.

I would try it with a proxy that i located in USA but I don't find one.

Holy Moly, now I have it.

I have TOTALLY underestimated my competition because of this thing!

When I surf normal (from germany location) for one certain phrase are shown 2 adwords ads, and with USA based proxy are shown 8 ads!

So I think this is a very important thing to know for adword marketers!

An USA based proxy is for example here:
http://www.proxydom.com

Geeez, that was not easy to find.

Normally, I search for "free proxy" and than click on the first result Laughing. However, I asked this question one of my friends using PPC, and he give me this tip.
Well, it's super simple. But if you have to find it by yourself, while you have other things to do. Well it takes some time.

By the way, why not try selling this product in Germany if you have less competitors?

Ah, but there are only proxy adresses, I don't want to set my browser to set up surfing over a proxy. I want to use a cgi proxy, so I can just enter the destination url in a website.
And anyway you have to check where your proxy is located. If it is not in USA it will give wrong results.

I believe german people have not so much interest in english internet marketing products.

You can modify the query string after you do one search, i.e. add &gl=us at the end and hitting Enter. But when you want something at a state or city level, it is too hard to remember the codes, at least for me.

I use cgi-proxy which is a free Perl script but my host is in Houston, so not very good for viewing regional ads outside TX. My other host is in Atlanta.

The best way is from within the Adwords interface, which lets you view ads as they would appear anywhere in the world. No need to remember any codes.

I assume you have an AdWords account. If not, I think you can open one as a test and go deep into the process before you have to give your credit card details. You can access this before you have to pay.

Tools >> Ads Diagnostic Tool

Quote:

Ads Diagnostic Tool
Choose one of the two options below to find out why your ads may not be showing on the first page of search results for a certain keyword.

Option 1: Search Terms and Parameters
Use this option if you're concerned about all ads within your account that should be appearing for a specific search term. For example, you could check your ad status for the phrase-matched keyword "Hawaiian cruises," targeted to California users.

Keyword: seo training

Google domain: www.google.com

Display language:

User location: United States
>>>>>>>: San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose CA
>>>>>>>: Milpitas

or IP Address:

Search domain: www.google.com
Display language: English
User's location: Milpitas, California, United States
The following ads are not showing for this keyword
Ad not shown | Reason: The user is located outside your campaign's geo-targeting area.

Ah, I see now, I thought, it is only for checking if own ads are shown.

But it's very unpractical. You can make only a preview for the keyword you are just diagnosing, then you have to go back and make a new diagnostic for another keyword.

When I just type another keyword in the preview screen, german ads are shown again Exclamation
