Please can anyone suggest a really good web editor that doesn't require knowledge of html code. I've been using Namo. Thanks for your help.

If you ask about paid - Dreamweaver. If you ask about free - NVU.
These are of course my own preference only

Dreamweaver maybe overkilling for a newbie. I use it but only after I understand HTML, tables, etc. And there also many tools and utilities that you may not need, like support for server-side development, etc.

NVU is great because it's free. If you want to learn web design and HTML, getting started with this might be a good idea. NVU may be the best free web editor out there.

But for a hands-free website development, I recommend XSitePro. It really is easy to learn, easy to use and you don't need to know HTML. But XSitePro has limitations, where you can only create websites with 1, 2 or 3 columns. But to me, XSitePro is more like a desktop content management software (CMS).

Why not taking a look at some websites created with XSitePro (google), and see if you can live with that.

Hate to hijack the thread but I wanted to jump on the NVU thing. It has caused nothing but problems for me and is a major source of 'troubleshooting' I do for new guys.

If you are thinking of using NVU consider this:

NO updates since it was released in 2005:

"Latest version of Nvu:
Nvu 1.0 - Released June 28th, 2005"

taken from the download page. It was released as an Open Source project to try and get a free/cheap editor working, but support for the project dropped when Linspire took over the company and development.

Essentially it has sat dead except for a core of supporters, but no bug-fix or patch has been released in almost 2 years.

It is incredibly buggy and will cause major errors to your code if you use it. It's a known issue to all users and developers.

There are some users that have created an 'unoffical bug-release' called Kompozer which you can find here:

But I have tested it and although t is better, it still has a lot of bugs even these guys haven't gotten to. Check their forums too.

User beware... Open Source does not mean 'free'. It means the community is building it. So if you want to get involved, please do, everyone could use the help.

But if you are just looking for a free WYSIWYG editor... if you can work through the headaches, go for it. If you would rather not, go for a mid-price option if Dreamweaver is out of the question.
