Hi guys.
Im a little confused. I been using Overture Suggestion tool as my "Demand' or how many people are searching for a certain keywords.
I been researching a few niche keywords on Overture and found great
numbers of people searching for it. I beleive it was around 13,000
and a few other related words had similar results.

However I when I did a search on wordtrackers free trial for this same
keyword I came up with a number around 68 people searching for it!?

Im a little confused and scared? Why is such a HUGE difference? Whos more right? I have heard Overture throws in a little "extra" numbers on its tool but I don't think a little equals 12,000+!?

Anyone can help me out?

Wordtracker uses data from some meta search engines for displaying popularity data. Overture uses data from its own network or SE's that buy searchresults from overture. Also any searches done by rank checking sotware (like webpostion) contribute to the higher numbers.
Anyway, it gives a good indication about the market.

Comparing Wordtracker and Overture for making up your mind is the way to go.

And now I found the link to an interview with
wordtracker founder Andy Mindel explaining the ins and outs of wordtracker.

MatchDriver can cause some weird results, but there are sometimes quirks that can't be explained away so easily.

Once I spotted a term related to home business that was showing over 10,000 in Overture and I bought the exact domain to try and catch some direct type traffic. Unfortunately, I got absolutely none, and when I checked the next month, the term wasn't even showing in Overture at all.

Strange but true,
Charlie.
