Post subject: Response from Google
|
|
|
I couldn't find the thread about getting a response from Google, so thought I'd just post this here. I had written to them about how often they crawl the sites since I'm having a hard time getting relevant ads on some of my pages:
At this time, we are unable to control how often our crawlers index the
content on your site. Crawling is done automatically by our bots. When new pages are added to your website or introduced to the AdSense program, our crawlers will usually get to them within 30 minutes although this can sometimes take 48 hours or longer. If you make changes to a page, however, it may take up to 3 or 4 weeks before the changes are reflected in our index. Until we are able to crawl your web pages, you may notice public service ads, for which you will not receive any earnings. |

Minnie, let me know if you tried the suggestions I pm'd to you and how they worked.

| I've responded to your pm's and made the adjustments you suggested. I was REALLY glad to see the appropriate ads come back to my front page! It's really weird cause the words I removed have been on there for a long time (even when I first put adsense on the page), but maybe Google has changed some things recently and it affected my ads. |

Google has told me they are constantly changing their algorithm and it does impact the ads (and can result in PSAs) that result. Their changes in mid-October have resulted in a huge difference in the ads that appear on some (not all) of my pages and consequently reduced my revenue by one third.
I have detailed my email exchange with Google in an earlier post. |

What type of words did you remove? Was it some of those that fall into the broad "might be offensive" category?
Thanks,
Bobby |

| No, nothing offensive at all, Bobby. Actually, it was the word "website" or "site" that was mentioned in a quote someone made, so the ads I was getting were all about website hosting and ISP's. |
