Post subject: Have you really STUDIED James Martell's Methods

I don't really post a lot in this section because I hear a lot of negative remarks about the techniques taught by James Martell. But, I suspect that most of the people have not stuck with the techniques or have not studied the techniques enough to truely get the full benifit.
Have anyone of you truely studied what James teaches. He teaches to essentially create 6 to 7 money pages with keywords that allow for easy to get high ranking search results. Then create article pages that point to those pages to build up the links. Then, you have to go out and build a linking strategy to your money pages. The more links that you are able to get to your money pages the higher those pages will appear in search results. That is the whole system. Very simple and it works. If you go out and study what the big sites are doing, they are essentially doing the same thing. The only thing different is that the big site concentrate daily to add more and more content to thier sites to produce more and more links. Google loves this, so if you can build a site and create a linking strategy and concentrate adding content you will have the same thing. James has taken a lot of time to research these techniques and I am very appreciative of the work that he has produced. No, I don't follow everything he has said. But in his book he asks people to tweek his technique to get better results.
People look more deeply into what James is teaching, and compare what he is teaching to other SEO sites. Not everything taught is wrong.

I have a couple Martell sites I created years ago and they still work. Regarding the article pages, I have found adapting the method by using a wordpress blog 1 click off home that links back to the category pages has worked well.
The nice thing about this is by having a blog on your site you can get some links in the high PR blog directories (which helps SEO) and also submit your RSS feeds to RSS directories. This all drives traffic to your site.
Also with google not fond of affiliate links much any more, I have been using php redirects to try to hide the affiliate links on the page.

| The old indexed ones still rank high for Google and yahoo here. MSN gets a little screwy sometimes.... dunno why |

I refer to money pages as the pages that I link all of my other article pages to. These pages have keyword titles that will draw in lot of traffic if they get high up in the serps. I try to point as many internal links to these pages to raise them up. These pages also have the affiliate links in them to make the money. The article pages will be second tier money pages because they only have google adsense links in them.

I am in the middle of James' backlink course right now. He has shown us several of his sites that have been online for years and they rank extremely well for many highly competitive keywords. Although his linking strategy is all done manually and takes quite a bit of time, it seems to be very effective.
I have been using software such as seo elite to analyze my competitors and he actually copies every backlink going to his competitors sites and examines them manually.
I certainly don't reget putting the money out for this course. I knew quite abit about backlinking before this course (at least I thought I did) and I wanted to know for sure if what I was doing was right or not. Only half way through his course, I found many mistakes I was making and ways that I could improve what I was already doing. This is the only course I have taken from him, but so far, it has helped me in many ways.

| True I can't comment with the backup of any success, but as a learning newbie, what he advocates makes sense. That's a good start at least. To criticize a method which looks right in theory, don't you need counter-examples or an insight into a mis-use of theory somewhere along the line? |

I used to criticize him several years ago. I had the chance to meet him and learn more about what he does. As far as his SEO strategy goes, I no longer have anything bad to say...what he teaches does work.

I still have about five pure Martell sites going. Basically maintenance free from 2005 until now. And they do make about $500 a month each. Reading the articles make your toes curl, and seeing what I published in the better article directories would be considered blatant spamming now. But the system still functions. I tried to upgrade one site and it disappeared from google completely.
But back to 2009 yes it works, and what James was teaching is in fact the predecessor of all our 2.0 strategies.
The problem with old martell sites is that they don't convert at all!. Adsense is still the main thing that makes them tick. But good content, the evolved linking strategy plus a little ppc is a surefire way to have bread on the table and pay the bills family members always seem to attract.
I still remember my fearful start on this path. the uncertainty "will it work", checking stats day and night and getting all exited about a Google update.
One thing I can honestly say to any anxious newcomer is: "When you do your home work created good content and work out a martell or other linking structure success is inevitable. I'm not talking about 1 milj days but a good living, time to do other things when you want where you want is doable. But you have to do the footwork.
I like what I'm doing and thank Ken Envoy, Allan Gardyne and James Martell (in that chronological order) for laying the foundation for a life of freedom.
Just my two cents, don't worry and eat your elephant one piece at a time.
