And what is the normal rate for 200-300 words article?

freelancewriting.com has a jobboard where you can post your needs and have writers respond. A decent, short article goes for anywhere from $2-5.

$5 will be a basic article.
If you are planning for quality articles, you need to pay a little bit more... like $10 per articles.
If you think about it, it's a wise investment, specially if you plan to add the articles to your website(s).
I found a lot of excellent writers on Digital point.

I use Rentacoder quite alot. $5 will get you a bunch of words thrown on a page.
I found a writer through RAC and use her almost exclusively. Minimum price per article is $8 but a 600 word one might be $12 or $14.
You get what you pay for.

I totally agee with sophist: You get what you pay for.
I even have some PLR articles in my hard drive that I will never use.
I am a non US and english isn't my first language, but most of the PLR articles I received or really bad...

Dynn, the price depends on the nature of the article. Well-written sales copy and press releases can range in price from $50 to $2000 (and sometimes more!) for one page. Informative content that requires little research can range from one cent per word to ten cents per word. Content requiring extensive research is pricier--anywhere from ten cents per word to a dollar per word.
These figures are estimates; on-line, rates widely vary among writers. There are a lot of penny-per-word writers out there. Some good, some bad. You need to carefully screen out the ones who produce low-quality work, or risk having to re-write the content yourself (or hire a second writer to do it).

I have order 5 articles from you because you mention you have written article for the forum members.
I have make a payment of $56 for 5 articles to you and also send you the acknowledge slip from paypal.
Until today it's been more than a week, I have no reply nor any update from you. Even though I have send you email and private messages, you simply ignore. It seems that we have totally lost touch after I made my payment.

Hi Randy,
You did receive your articlestoday. My son writes most of the 5 packs and completed your order 7 days after it was ordered. Have you seen it?
I have not been in this forum recently and did not see any emails or messages from you that you left me here.
I did get an email from you today, contacted my son, who was working on your order, and he did email them to you today. Did you receive it?
Our policy is to write single article orders in 48 hours and multiple 5, 10, and 50 packs in a timely fashion.
I believe we have done that for you. We do not provide daily updates on where we are in the process because we would never get any writing done.
We write all articles in the order they come in and most time have a back log of 100-150 articles we are working on so it is hard to predict when they will exactly be completed.
I personally do reply to every email I receive and since I did not hear directly from you did not know you were checking on your order.
Sorry for the problems on this and I hope you are happy with the articles you did receive.

As for jschuman if you are reading this post, I suppose you need to send an email to keep your customer inform that you have received their payment and are working on the articles, rather than just keep quiet and let them wondering what is next or are they paying to the right person or are they able to receive their articles after paying.
I'm sure if you are able to reply to my request, I don't see the reason why you are not able to send a short note to keep me update.
Anyway this is my point of view as a customer.
As for cherri can I know the reason why you give up elance writer.
