Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has tried pop-under advertising? If so, has it been successful? How many customers?

I've tried pop under advertising in the past. For me it was a waste of time.

Having said that. I have had some succes building opt in list with pop unders in the past.

Now I'm experimenting with awebers fade in's etc.
They seem to be going well so far

Can you give me some statistics for your opt ins. Also which site did you use?

Pop under is just another kind of pop ups chrz1313. There are slide in, pop in, pop up, pop under, pop exit and many others. But generally term as pop up.

It really depends on how you use it. If your Adwords lover like me, pop up is no good. We enjoy the squeeze page / landing page.

But, honestly..pop up still works chrz1313. Depending on how you use it.

Enjoy!

Pop unders are a "what the he**" why not kind of stragety in my book. There used to be an affiliate I ran a few years back that paid like 2 cents for every pop under I was able to generate. It wasn't worth the hassle for the $1 or $2 a day from the site I was putting it on. Who knows the impression it left on my visitor, I didn't really care about that site so I figured why not.

I occassionally use pop unders for my own affiliate stuff and it converts poorly, but I don't care because they have left the site by the time they see it. I wouldn't use it on any of my sites that I actively work and want repeat traffic from.

And I wouldn't recommend it as a strategy that will make much money. There are so many blockers now that you wouldn't want to emphasize popunders.

I spent about $30 on it about 2 years ago and can clearly say that it didn't work for me either. The traffic is really untargetted and I only ended up receiving about 10 visitors that clicked of from the first page which was the landing page of the popup.

I have used them too in the past. Not a single sale.
You have no control of the traffic and define the quality of it.

Paid advertising is rough. I have tried most PPC and only Adwords and Overture Yahoo have consistently delivered. I broke even on some pop under campaigns. I found it was best to buy no more than 10k at a time and to spread them out over a month. If they deliver the traffic to quickly you might come up on the same sites many times in one day. Also their networks of sites are only so big. Better to spread your ads out a variety of networks and hit more sites.Your product should be one that appeals to a general crowd too.
