Don't get me wrong. There are some very good affiliate marketing manuals and ebooks out there that offer valuable information and strategies...

I watched nearly 1.5 hours of Video yesterday from a "Guru". I pulled 1 item from that time that made the entire 1.5 hours worthwhile.
What happened in Indiana today? What happened in Bolivia? Did either event effect you?
The point: Learing from mentors (which is what you are implying you do as you promote your product) has a lot of value. What you think you know about Marketing (Even if it is making you a lot of money) is only a small drop in the bucket compared the the whole Ocean of Marketing Information.
One can never know all the tricks, tips, and secrets. Your post is just another long lead in to sell your product which is exactly what you say you are sick of. Ironic isn't it?
People should venture into whatever business they have a plan for accomplishing.
Learing from others is a great way to jumpstart the process.
I read your entire post and it said nothing to me, but perhaps something to someone else. Kind of a lot of writing to lead to your sales pitch. You may as well just pitch your product as spend so much time writing a long essay about nothing specific. Just my opinon. _________________ FREE SEO and Keyword Suggestion Tools

Please remember, this is NOT an Article Bank - it would appear that the article is just there to display your signature. Please make better use of your 300 character signature file and ask questions (yeah, I know you don't have any) or reply to someone else's query.

In the very first paragraph the following written:
"Congratulations! You're about to discover the Secret that other affiliates program's owner doesn't want you to know!!"
And you know, it will only cost you $50 to discover this poster's secrets. Great catch Quest.

You're right - most e-books don't really give you much of anything. The problem is that there are a lot of people out there who are unaware of this. They have a little knowledge and they want to learn more, and many times, e-book producers (and sellers) want to get those people to buy from them.
That being said, there are some genuinely good e-books out there...of course, they aren't giving away secrets. _________________ Mr. B |

The originator of this thread could have just posted in the introduction area to get his link posted. With a lot less effort I may add.
The reason most people get into the "make money online" niche is because that is what started them and that is what they are learning at the time.
What better way to learn the ropes than in the most competitive market. (just try to keep your credit card in your wallet)
I admit I am one of them. I will also admit I am thinking of different less competitive niches to get into. _________________ Jeff Houdyschell

One reason people join the internet marketing game is that internet marketing products are usually offering much higher returns for the affiliate . As well as high commission rates the products themselves are expensive. You can always get loads of affiliates to sell for you if you are a merchant and if you are an affiliate you make more money.
I started out doing affiliate marketing for ordinary goods and services via Commission Junction and others and I still do a bit- but I make much less money for more effort. So I prefer to sell the products the Internet marketers produce. Its so much easier. For example this week I wrote an article related to an internet marketing product. I posted it to an article directory. I made a sale almost as soon as it was released and I netted $44 - and it will make me more as it circulates. I don't even make that much when I sell my own product!!
I just wish I had cottoned on a bit sooner- but I obeyed the gurus who said not to venture into that field.
Another bit of useless advice I got was to sell something you are passionate about. I wasted quite a bit of time on that one. You don't have to be passionate you just have to learn about it. Choose something you will enjoy learning about.

No Ebook is ever going to teach you how to make millions...you know why? Because they always miss one key ingredient. That ingredient is the person themselves...how motivated they are, how passionate they are...how badly they want to succeed. You can't teach those things, you either have it or you don't. Some people acquire it over time, but it takes lots of hard work.
Don't go wasting money on some "gurus" e-book. You know how they are making thier big money? By selling large numbers of ebooks to dunces like us. Avoid them. The rare few do help, but the majority really stink. There are SO many free resources online today (like this forum) that if you put in your time and read, read and do more reading you will make it.
Perseverence, my friends, is the key to success.
Cheers,
Dave. _________________ I can teach you how to net 30k/month like I do. No cost, no obligation. Why? Because when you give, you only get more Only hard work is needed to succeed. PM me. |

I don't quite agree with you Dave. I have learned a lot from some e-books. I agree some of them are rubbish but you soon learn who not to buy from. And most have a money back guarantee so you can get refunded if you think it was oversold.
I think that one way to decide what is worthwhile is by reading forums like this one and newsletters from people whose advice has been good in the past. eg Allan's. _________________ If you have trouble sleeping I have just what you need. Check out the Sleep Sound Insomnia Cure |

The article OnlinePrivateMentor posted was posted is actually mine. I submitted it to ezinearticles a couple of weeks ago. Would have been nice if he could have least just posted a link instead. Oh well.

I don't think that all guru books are worthless. I've gotten some good strategies from some of them but I do believe a lot of them are over-hyped and contain info you can get for free. That's why I just wait for Allan to recommend them in his newsletter. That way I know it'll be a winner. |

I'm not sure there are anymore affiliate secrets, but since I have a small brain and it is still not full I know I can learn things I have not heard before. That is why I come to this forum and others as well. Free training and helping others is a great concept. _________________ Jeff Schuman

Yes, that's it, you've nailed it.
The main event, the important action, is on our side of the monitor, not on the Internet somewhere.
It can be useful to remember that many otherwise ordinary people did well on the Net back in the mid 90's, before there were any net biz info products, and before any specialized tools arrived.
In those days all anybody had was a text editor, an FTP program, and a web browser.
If you also had your enthusiasm, it was enough. It still is.
| wahideas wrote: | | You can't teach those things, you either have it or you don't. |
Hmm. I not sure we should declare that teaching motivation is impossible, though clearly it is a higher art than teaching someone where their Adsense panel should go and so on.
The right teacher, at the right time, for the right person, can be magic. I remember football coaches in my youth who could motivate you for a whole season with just one well aimed look or comment.
Here's one way to look at the Net biz niche.
1) All the info any of us need to succeed is already duplicated many (many!) times over for free on the Net. This one site does the job nicely all by itself.
2) The tools have gotten so good that none of us need to be distracted by technology unless we want to.
So, how many more years can we get excited about the latest greatest new gizmo or manual?
Once that game has finally run it's course, where does the Net biz niche go from there?
My guess for the moment is it goes deeper, in to human soul, where the real action is, as the poster above suggests. |
