Post subject: How successful has article SUBMISSION been for you?
|
|
|
when i first saw the Jason Postash movie of how article writing could pull in traffic, i was excited, but the reality has fallen well short of the mark. So much so that after six months, setting myself targets for the amount of articles i need to write, i've all but given up.
No great hardship, i now have a big selection of articles to chop and change, which equals more content on my websites.
All in all it's not been the all singing all dancing traffic generation technique i thought it would be.
so how successful has article submission REALLY been for you?
Honest experiences and opinions please! rather than a string of links to article submission software.
love to hear from you.

I don't really know. I have submitted about 40 articles, but couldn't really tell if they have helped me to gain any PR. _________________ Affiliate Programs Directory - Over 2,000 Programs

article marketing has lost its touch, but it still works. The kind of article quality people submit is really bad. If you look at the articles submitted by some of the top marketers like Willie crawford. You'll see the difference between why they get results from their articles.

What he said about quality.
I've noticed a difference between niches which are more competitve than others. I spent ages writing loads of articles and submitting them for a hyper competitive niche (debt/credit) and seen very little back in the way of traffic (none of it lasting), probably because those articles are buried in a huge ever growing mountain of similarly themed articles in this overcrowded market.
Looking in article directories at articles in that niche there are just a rediculous amount and the quality of some of them is truly horrendous, you'd have to write really excellent articles that truly stand out and provide very valuable information in not very many words to stand out in that niche.
For one of my other sites which is much less competitive I've submitted 2 articles to just 1 directory (ezinearticles) which I really researched and made a lot of effort to make them as good as I possibly could and I'm seeing steady traffic of about 30+ uniques a day from it. That's not a great amount of traffic but from 2 articles written months apart I think it's OK, I could start trying to write 2 articles a week to build more traffic but I only wrote those two because I was compelled to by some reading up I did on the subject and thought for ideas to spin articles around.
I think submitting articles just to try and get links is the wrong way to go about it, loads of people are doing that and producing 'drivel with keywords' that's clogging up the directories. Submitting articles with the intention of getting exposure for your business and making people want to know more about it still works, for me anyway. _________________ Make Music Online Yeah that's right - I said music! I've had some good success with article marketing and will continue this strategy.
Having said that dotdash made some good points about the clutter that is on the directories and it's getting harder to get top rankings without some backlinks to the articles.
If the keywords I'm targeting are producing good results. I'm cross linking with other articles and websites with decent page rank.
If you are simply competing agaist other articles then this extra work will do the trick.
Also I've noticed that other non article sites are getting good listings to. If you are observant you'll see a trend especially in the "make money" field _________________ It Happens May 1

Like dotdash said, it really depens on the niche.
Almost all my subscribers come from article marketing.
I submited some articles in the Forex niche, and made more than $400 of commissions in less than 2 months with a tiny list cominf from these articles (less than 50 subscribers).
For maximuum efficacity, you must research the keywords you will focus on before writing your articles. You will get FREE search engine traffic.
Focus on the Quality first, and then on the keywords.
I noticed that in the Self help niche, article work like a charm.
Last: Your resource box and site you link to must convert...
Article is working great for me. The only problem is time... _________________ ==> AffiloBlueprint Affiliate Marketing Training.

I have gotten all but one of my Virtual Assistant clients via article marketing. I also do article marketing ala cart for other professionals and I'm backlogged because they've had such good results.
Just my 2 cents.

Sorry for not replying earlier, my trouble and strife (wife ) has been in hospital so i've been busy.
first of all i'm happy that article writing is working, and for some is working very well.
for me it was an issue of ROI on my time and effort that i had a problem with, it just doesn't seem to be worth it. maybe that's a bit harsh, but i'm getting less hits than dotdash is getting.

is there anyone out there that uses the services of others to create an article, and then submits it with your link (obviously)?
one last question, do you use article submission software or do you stick to a few article sites?
thanks for your feedback and opinions,

I hand submit my articles. Thankfully, I've never had a problem (rejected articles). I submit different articles to different directories. I write basically 3 types of articles, scrapbooking, parenting, and home business. Not all directories have a place for my scrapbooking articles. However, many many parents do buy scrapbooking materials (what I sell) and so I will search out parent sites and submit my articles there.
I keep a spreadsheet of all of my articles and chart where I've submitted each one. _________________ Audrey

Mattie,
Three things have happened as a result of my articles:
1. I get traffic daily from the larger articles directories, such as ezinearticles.
2. I get requests consistantly from others who want to use my articles on their sites, or in their ezines.
3. I hear from potential clients consistantly.
Again, my goal is for folks to buy my products. I know my articles help that happen. _________________ Audrey

Hi,
I've had some really good success with article writing, namely with ezinearticles.com. I'm focusing on quality unique content at the moment.
Some things I need to improve upon are my article keyword content, and I haven't even started to do things like 2-part article writing yet- writing the first part on the article published and the second part on my website.
One article that I published on ezinearticle.com recently has got me an average of 10 targeted visitors a day which are converting nicely.
Im currently writing about 3 articles a day and am submitting unique articles to ezinearticles, searchwarp and articlemarketer.
This is my first test which I'm keeping a close eye on, namely traffic onto the article (if given in the stats), unique hits onto my site from particular articles, and conversions. This isn't an infallible test however as there are variables namely the difference in the article subject (within the same niche of acne), its content, and the keyword content. The only way I can make it invariable is to publish the same articles on each ezine directory but I'm worried this may be counter-productive due to duplicate content penalties in the long term. I wonder if this is a fallacy though...
Next month I'll be submitting to some other article directories. I think keeping an extremely close eye on stats is the only way to find out exactly what is working and how well it is working. _________________ Check out my great acne product 'The Ultimate Acne Solution'. Make $28/sale.

Article marketing has been doing well for me, so far I've gained some subscribers for one of my websites... but i'm not submitting articles lately so only a few are coming in. but i believe article marketing can be a very helpful tool in bringing the word out for your website - just write great articles of high quality content. _________________ New headers, templates, and other high quality

I've written hundreds of articles and all of the high page rankings I get with Google I attribute at least some of that to article writing.
What I would do is create a keyword list of several hundred words. Then start writing an article or 2 everyday based around one of the keywords. Submit the article to at least 5 of the top article directories like EzineArticles.com and others. In the article have a bio box with your website address in it. You may even want to create sub pages on your website and once in a while put the sub page in the bio box. Name the sub page file after the keyword phrase.
Then repeat this process. It is a tedious process, but over a period of time it can really help your site out. It least it has for me. _________________ Jeff Schuman
