I can not count any more the number of times I've read articles that I would consider to be average to good (Meaning worth publishing as valid usable content) only to find the sites the article links out to are just HORRIBLE and SPAMMY.
If you are unethical then you may choose to publish them without the outgoing links (I won't do that as I believe in crediting the source appropriately).
So if you are going to write articles make sure the landing pages for the links from those articles also add value to the user experience.
I am not afraid to send traffic to other sites. I am not "losing" a customer, I am providing value.
I agree with you. I've come across so many article like this that linked to sites that were so spammy that it was a big turnoff.
I think you're right that webmasters need to concentrate more on quality. This way, they will build trust in readers/visitors. However, many webmasters are just interested in making a quick buck!
