Post subject: How does MYWS apply to affiliate websites?
|
|
|
I?ve almost finished reading Ken Evoy?s ?Make Your Words Sell? and I?ve gotten valuable insights.
However, this book is more about writing powerful sales copy which are appropriate for merchant sites. And I?m not really sure how I apply what I?ve learned in the book to my affiliate sites.
For instance, in MYWS the author places a lot of importance on headlines that grab the attention. But, this isn?t really of much use when you?re optimizing the headlines for Search Engines.
Should I write headlines like the book says and add the keywords in italics or bold?
Or will I find more appropriate information in MYCPS?
So far, my headlines have been only the keywords (phrases), and I haven?t had much success at the search engines (that may be from a variety of reasons ? few links). So, maybe if I write the headlines for the visitors and not for the SEs, I will have more success.
Any ideas? Should I read MYCPS instead? _________________ Italian Fashion Designer

You should write your headlines for search engines AND for people.
Remember what happens when you use a search engine to search for information...
You type in a word or a phrase, and scan the results which appear. You choose the most interesting or appropriate or eye-catching link to click on - so you must have a title which is very well written for people AND for search engines.
When you arrive at the page, you scan the part of the page you can see and very quickly decide whether you've arrived at an interesting, useful site. So it's very important that the heading is written in a way that will catch your interest really fast.
Before buying another book, I recommend you re-read the book you've spent money on. Study it carefully, and take notes.
MYCPS is a very important book for affiliates because so many affiliates don't fully understand preselling. It's a quick, easy read, but it's also well worth studying carefully. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Wow! I just wrote an article following the tips in MYWS. I can't believe how easy it is.
Writing the features and SWATing them to death. I think I just hit a gold mine!
Here's the article. I'm pretty satisfied with the way it turned up. Not bad for a first attempt.
Great book! You should write a review on it, Allan. I searched the site but couldn't find one.

Thanks for the tip. I'm sure I've got a review somewhere, probably in an old newsletter. I'll have to dig it out. _________________ Allan Gardyne

For affiliate marketing (correct me if I'm wrong) you'll want to be honing your preselling skills and not selling. The book for that is MYCPS _________________ Make Music Online Yeah that's right - I said music! I'm a musician so that's my niche - what's yours? |
