Hi Dudester,

I hope you don?t mind my butting in here but I would like to make a couple of points.

Quote:
Ken Evoy, owner of SBI, says just stick with it. Well, it's very disheartening to spend so much time building a site and tweaking it and then see your rankings disappear for no apparent reason. For the 14 months I've had this site, it has NEVER, I mean NEVER had nothing but >30 rankings for Google. And again, I have done nothing illegal. I've played by the rules. I've been ranked #3 by both Yahoo and MSN at different times for my home page

I think Ken is spot on with his advice to stick with it (and add more content and get more good incoming links.)

Engines dropping pages can happen with any site, not just SBI sites, even if you do play by the rules.

Google loves links, perhaps even more so than the other engines. If your pages rank well on other engines but not ol? G then more links may be the answer.

As to your disappointment with your AdSence income ? one thing that did leap out and hit me on your site was your AdSence ads. A nice site overall, you have put the work in, but I actually think your AdSence income may improve if the ads did not look so much like ads Wink

Hope that helps a little.

Dudester,

GR,

As someone with an SBI site I confirm what you say about the package being an excellent "all-in-one solution".

You are spot on when you mention how easy it is to build pages even if you don't understand HTML. SBI has a wide and growing range of features, which some people use more than others depending on where they want to take their business.

When you mention price as one of the downsides - "it's way over priced" - it all depends on what value you place on the whole system.

Take as a complete system which provides you with a methodology of e-business, the system to figure out your site concept and analyse keywords, the framework for constructing pages with graphics and other features, the package is very good value for money.

I should add that in addition to having all the tools to build your site, you also have the tools to grow your online presence (traffic) and incorporate blogging and RSS functionality.

Then I should not forget to mention the huge resource of help in the forums, a great community full of support and encouragement, a vital commodity.

Looking back, I think what it might have been like without the concentration of so much willing support on tap whenever I need it, and where I can help in return.

You mentioned the problem with losing traffic with the Search Engines, referring to Google in particular. Of course, the SE's do from time to time change their algorithms and this will inevitably have some impact on your rankings and so traffic.

But remember if you continue to add more content and look to source your traffic from a wider universe you can mitigate these problems. Think of it like investing.

It is prudent to spread your capital between a group of companies and not put all your eggs in one basket. So with your traffic, you'll get a chunk from the SE's, some from forums, from articles, off line buzz, viral e-mail and e books etc.

Over time your referrer universe expands and so traffic fluctuations become less volatile. Also with reference to page ranks and keywords, you should remember that people find your site with a lot more word combinations than you have from your baseline keywords in your pages.

So while you may have 1 or 2 word keywords, you can be found by searchers typing in 3 or 4 word phrases. So a >30 page does not mean you will not get any direct traffic to that page.

You say that you have outgrown SBI and want to choose other packages to make money. You have said that you made money with SBI and so you yourself showed that the system worked.

As I said before there are many other ways to boost traffic to your site and so increase your income. As Ken Evoy says, keep building unique content with your own voice.

Add more through your SBI RSS/Blog It! function, post to forums and write articles. And if I recall, Alan Gardyne only a few days ago sent out a message showing 77 ways to increase your traffic.

So I think with SBI as a foundation and using the tips suggested by Ken and Alan you will give a big boost to your traffic and make more money.

When you then look at the annual SBI subscription, the investment is dwarfed by the many benefits.

All the best.

Don't sweat it, dudester. You're not raining on my parade at all. I'm sorry that your SBI site hasn't done that well. Mine is doing great and I'm really having a blast. Very Happy

I've been a professional web designer for 7 years for a local 4x4 company. I just discovered SBI 3 months ago and, let me tell you, I will NEVER go back to doing things the old fashioned way. To me, it would be like using a horse and buggy after I found out there was a auto dealer in town. I couldn't comprehend doing that.

Not sure why you think it's overpriced. My poor little checkbook was very happy with the price.

Anywho, I hope you give it a shot again. I talk personally with so many people doing so well with their SBI sites. Above all, I'm enjoying building web sites again, because I know my time is well spent. They're actually going to get the traffic I need as long as I follow the process. That for me is worth every blessed moment I spend on my site. Not spending my time chasing SEO tactics, submitting to engines, etc etc is so nice that I can actually enjoy building my business.

Have a great weekend and good luck with your web sites, friend! Wink
