I hate the side scrolling, and the middle column is just too narrow. Maybe I can find a greasemonkey script to clean up things... _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Top notch! Thumbs up here
I think the left navigation will cut down on a lot of the newcomer questions that get posted over and over and get the response to read the 18 step tutorial.
All in all it's a lot easier to find what you're looking for. _________________ Do You Really Want To Quit Your Day Job?

i was presently surprised at the new look of AP when i returned after some time..
it looks more professional now, even though i had no qualms of the quality of the content that was and is there.
I was, although not happy with the forum being squeezed into this look..guess it will take some time to get used to.
I'm on a 15 inch monitor with IE6 and i have to scroll a tad to the right to fit the whole screen in..
On a different note, i see that you are using a content management system to restructure the whole site, if i'm not wrong..Allan, how do you think will it affect rankings?
I wish the AP team and Allan success with this new look and hope that you guys will keep up the good and quality stuff that you have always given us..

In Firefox, with a 1024x768 display, there in only a slight horizontal scroll bar. I can see all of the right column, but it still displays the scroll bar for some white space on the far right.

Robert,
I'm using IE6 and I have a half-inch scroll - poor Allan has half a star missing! But my other 3 computers all see it perfectly and I cannot work out why. This one is Diamond Digital and I may have to take it up with my supplier!! Three of the screens are flat screen monitors.
I think it's a great result but for a few like us.

I'm thinking rankings may slump for a month or two because Google doesn't like massive changes. Jay is more optimistic. One thing in our favor is that the new navigation system is designed both for humans and search engines. Also, the site is old, large and well established. Google likes old, well established sites, so any upheaval in the rankings should be temporary.
We were getting some very nice rankings in the old Affiliates Dictionary section (now part of the new Knowledge Base). The Affiliates Dictionary was the newest part of the site and it had VERY simple pages which good anchor text. It's going to be interesting to see how some of the new pages fare.
We probably still need to do a bit of tweaking of the on-page search engine optimization here and there. We can also improve some of the internal linking, I think. Lots to do!
Mainly, we just need a few dozen friends to mention the "new" site in their blogs or newsletters. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Wow, did I ever get a surprise when I clicked through from your newsletter! I have to say I have mixed reactions to it though. It looks very clean and bright, which is great. But I too find it a bit hard on the eyes because it is so bright - the links are a rather pale blue and the text is small (non-adjustable in IE7; 1152x864).
It also looks very "American." The red, white and blue suggests that, but it's the stars on the right, in the newsletter signup block, that gives me that impression. It's not a "look" I would have expected on your site.
I really like the reorganisation. It's so much easier to find my way around your site now. I didn't know you had so many great articles here!
Overall, I'd say well done! Congratulations!

It is very nice. The new refreshing look is a pleasant surprise.
The most important thing is, it gives imression that very neat and detailed planning is involved.
The complete page is utilized fully. I will be interested to know how it performs with SE's.
best regards

Wow, I thought I went to the wrong website at first glance... ... I checked the URL twice just to make sure...!
Did you design it yourself or did you outsource?
Allan...I love the new look! It looks very professional, tidy and the homepage is easy to navigate.

Jay designed it and did a lot of the technical stuff. He outsourced some of trickier bits. _________________ Allan Gardyne
