Post subject: Using prominent logos as link buttons-good or bad ?

Hello again.
A question: I want to link some resources, like Oracle, Microsoft and a few others. Can I use their logos as links, and say something like'All names are trademarks of their respective owners' ? |

DatabaseDesigner,
Personally... I'd use a text link, if a link at all. The graphic just slows the load of your page for "who's" benefit. What benefit do you receive by sending the visitor away from your site when you've worked to get them there.
Mention them in the text but no link unless needed.

| The purpose was to have a resources page with links to related (but not so good....) articles. Also trying to add good, relevant content, in a new window, of course. |

I am another graduate of the text school. I have a slow connection, too, so I hate slow pages more than most.
Having said that, the important thing is perceived page loading time, rather than actual time...
By splitting up large tables, specifying dimensions of graphics and various other tricks, you can often make sections of slow loading pages appear quickly - giving people something to read, so they don't even notice (or at least care) that the rest of the page hasn't arrived yet.
Cheers,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."
