Wordpress (not the hosted version) is 100 times better than blogger or any other software out there.
There is excellent support in terms of flexibility, expandability and ease of use. Just search for Wordpress here and in google to see the benefits.. _________________ A part-time effort to a full-time income |

Blogger has some annoyances, but it is quick to learn, and a great place to LEARN for a newbie who doesn't want to have a web host and domain name.
Wordpress is a superior solution. It has evolved into a full blown content management system. The learning curve is just a bit steeper and you need a web host and domain name. Many web hosts offer Fantastico, with one click install of Wordpress.
There are Adsense specific plug-ins for Wordpress. Blogger allows you to insert Adsense in one page location (the very top) in its Template tab. To add it elsewhere you need to add it manually.
If you don't already have an Adsense account, a Blogger blog is a quick and easy way to get one. _________________ Your Free Pass to the Members-only ListBuild List

I use both. I like WordPress better because it offers more features, but I also have several blogs that I use Blogger for because of hw easy is is to set up. I just create a blog, make a post and then I go to my home page or the site map of my website and link back to the post with a the keyword the post is about. _________________ Jeff Schuman

gotta agree with Lowell. Blogger is good for beginners but I suggest don't spend more than a week on it... Other thing like Lowel suggested is to get your site indexed using blogger.
as a complete solution blog I'd recommend Wordpress only.

jgnaut, I use both. I recommend using Blogger if you don't have your own domain, or if you are not comfortable with html.
What I like about Wordpress is that I can put Adsense in the sidebar after uploading the sidebar plugin, and I can write what I want, when I want when it is on my own domain. I had 8 Blogger blogs deleted because I posted too much too fast. At least that's my guess, since they didn't give me any warning or reason.
With Wordpress I like to write a Page or two, then link to them from a post. I put my main keywords in my blog title and all my other hot keywords become my Categories; Pages are listed under Categories. So each blog has a wide range of keywords, and over time the links between all the keywords will produce a well-ranked site. One of my Wordpress blogs has twice as many pages as my other one and has 3 times as many subscribers.
I use Feedburner, it has great blog optimization and publicity tools, including BuzzBoost, which puts html links to my blogs on my main website. The page where I do this has the highest pr of any page on my site.
I also link back and forth between blogs and main site as much as possible.
A sidenote: my most responsive, valuable colleagues/clients/friends are people who "found" me via my blogs. Even though my blogs are often info-filled, they still come off as more personal than a webpage, and build trust and confidence. _________________ Chocolate makes you a better affiliate marketer. |

that is total nonsense , blogger does not cancel your blogs because you post too much .

Blogger is not for beginners , marketing tactics are universal and apply to any form of web site with an url . Just because its free , it doesnt mean its for beginners . Ive been blogging on blogger for almost 5 years and posting like an animal every single day .Never had a problem accept for maintenance here and there which i think is normal considering their size .

Be careful you can get penalized from search engines for excessive crosslinking ...

your dreaming in colors ....

thats exactly what google doesnt want , blogs made specifically to get their own web site listed .
These are the kind of blogs that get deleted from blogger , blogs that serve no purpose but to promote their own website just to get listed or to get higher rankings .

you can do that with blogger .
Guys/girls, everybody is entitled to their own opinions , but ill tell you one thing with my outmost sincerity .
i tried everything , web sites , wordpress ...etc and all i did was spend money on domains and other stupidities ....
if it wasnt for blogger i would still be working at my 9 to 5 job .....DT
I have nothing against wordpress , its an excellent tool , and i have nothing against having your own domain .... but dont underestimate blogger just because its free .
their are lots of people who blog on blogger full time and are making a killing . |

Many folks here have had blogs deleted for that reason... so it can happen.
Blogger vs WP is like Linux vs Windows, Coke vs Pepsi and Ford vs Chevy.
It's a matter of opinion. There are people who can make Blogger stand up and dance, and they can't get WP to do anything. And there are folks who can make WP do amazing feats, and keep getting bombed on Blogger.
Just compare the features and decide what you want. Just remember one thing with any of the hosted blogs (Wordpress.com, Blogger, MySpace, etc). You don't own your content. Unless you keep a backup of the content, if the company decides to delete your account, your information is gone.
With wordpress (or any other self-hosted blog package) this happens less frequently. And you have a bit more control over your data.
Either way... be sure to keep backups of everything. It's a good habit to get into regardless of who your host is. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

by having it hosted on your own domain. I lost two blogs by the Blogger automated system, yes - even revamping your blog which requires "publishing" can appear to be spamming the system. The bottom line is Blogger is a great place to start but once you are happy with the theme, concept, niche and format - the safest thing to do is get a domain name then host your Blogger blog there. That protects it from getting deleted by the blogger system.
PS I was able to get back one of them but the other is gone, gone. Since then I've used WordPress on my own domains as it comes with cpanels that include Fantastico.

Something that I did with my Blogger blogs triggered their anti-spam protections. Here's how it played out: One day I logged into Blogger and my blogs were gone. No warning, no explanation, just gone. I emailed them to no avail. Not a peep from Blogger. I examined their terms of service and all I could figure out was that somehow I was perceived as spamming. I posted twice on each blog the day I created them, and one or two posts a day after that. Some of my posts were articles by other people, including bylines.
Months later one of my blogs reappeared. I was instructed that if I wanted, I could negotiate to get it back online. I emailed back and forth but never got a solid reason why it was removed. A lot of "maybe it was this, maybe it was that." It's my opinion that something about how or what I was posting led Blogger to believe I was using some sort of automated blogging system.
I question their "guilty until proven innocent" stance. What I was doing, and I explained it to Blogger and got no feedback, was I set up a group of blogs to test different keywords, all of which relate to my main website. I monetized the blogs with Adsense to see which one or ones made the best money. Of course I did this test by adding useful content. And when I posted relevant content on my main site, I backlinked to it.
My attempt at using blogs to create my own web with my website as the hub, was thwarted by Blogger. A dialog would have helped.
I currently still have a couple Blogger blogs and have no problem with them. I use Wordpress for blogs I want to add more material to faster, just in case this was the problem with Blogger. I feel no ill will towards Blogger, and never felt any ill will from them. I think the problem is one of size: Blogger treated me and my blogs like Yahoo has treated my email accounts, blocking and deleting without warning. It's a matter of they are so big, they can't treat people as individuals. _________________ Chocolate makes you a better affiliate marketer. |

Post subject: Blogger - communication when blog deleted
|
|

I know that I never actually got a response from Blogger when my two blogs disappeared but after 2 months of sending them emails, I got one back. They were all one way conversations. I think the reason I have come to depend on my own blogs on my own site using the WordPress program is that I am in control of it - ultimately and there are plenty of plugins you can use that are free (open source) to customize your blog.
I will keep my blogs on Blogger but I don't consider them online indefinitely.

i dont know about you guys/girls but i never had a problem with blogger , and ive been with them since the begining, i have 13 blogs and still no problems ....
some of my blogs have over 1000 pages ....and posting every single day ..
i even have some blogs that are packed with affiliate links .....
im pretty sure you violated the rules somehow , i really doubt that blogger just cancels your blogs for nothing unless there was a glitch in their system and unforunatly you were the victim ... but i doubt it . |

I apologize if I made it sound like they did it for no reason. I believe there was a reason, and probably a very good one. The only thing I ever got resembling an explanation was not a personal email, but what seemed like an automated response to my enquiry, saying maybe they thought I was using an automated posting system. My response: no way, it was all hard work...
No doubt I did something that either violated their terms, or they thought I did mistakenly. Unfortunately, I never found out why. I assumed they thought I was "spamming", maybe it was my keyword density? It's all speculation, though.
I didn't go into it blind however. I was warned by one of my colleagues that Blogger sometimes just deletes blogs, and that hosting my blogs on my own domain was more secure. I had trouble doing that at first, now I know how it works.
I agree with Tammy, now that I've figured out how to do it, I like the control of having them on my own domain. _________________ Chocolate makes you a better affiliate marketer. |
