Hi

I have in mind starting an Ezine article web site and have some questions that aren't still clear enough.

Should i use some kind of dynamic technology like PHP or instead its suitable starting it in a static way?, or in other words, including the articles one by one and doing everything in a HTML procedure.

I know it could be overwhelming in the moment you reach a big number of users, but on the other hand you have more control of the articles you recieve. Maybe i could start statically and if it grows widely, i could change it to some known protocol (PHP, ASP...etc). Is this a good idea?

I've been analyzing web sites like ezinearticle or findarticles and they seem to use data bases to organize their stuff. I also see they promote RSS to propagate information. I'm curious haw they use it to add articles in their site, if they do so...
Is it possible to create an ezine article only with RSS programs?

To finish i have to say that it's not going to be an English article site so don't worry for any competition issues Wink

Thanks

I strongly recommend that you assume you're going to be successful and plan for success right from the start. This means you should include database software or a content management system in your plans right from Day 1.

Your plans remind me of the amateurish I started AssociatePrograms.com in January 1998. First it was one page on another site. Then it was static HTML, and then it moved on to a database system. With each change, a whole lot of extra work had to be done that wouldn't have been needed if I've started with a proper database.

You don't want to be messing around with fiddly, time-consuming stuff. If you do, you can get so bogged down with trivia that you don't have time to think about more important things, such as the direction in which your business is going.

Yes, i think you're right. Maybe it will take more time starting a dynamic website and setting up a database, but as time goes on, it will save me efforts and headaches.

Thanks for your response. Like usual, your advices are helpful.

You can base your ezine on some free CMS system or even blog system like WordPress.
Of course having built something which suits your needs is better, but when time and money are issues, the premade scripts do excellent work

I agree that Wordpress is a great way to easily generate your ezine pages.

You could send an email broadcast and have summaries that lead to full blown content on your Wordpress site.

I think this is a great idea because you have less email content to pass through the SPAM filters and you can easily monetize the traffic on your site.
