Post subject: The Psychology of Buying?
|
|

Someone - Anyone ...
I just saw a post on another board where someone actually says that they ordered a $29 product under the scenario below ... apparently they really did ... this is not a joke or a made-up story here, at least according to the post on that board ...
Please help me understand why *anyone* would buy a product that is not described or defined - but which promises to make you $175 from a 75-cent cost, through a server which is apparently not secure, on an amateurish website without reasonable contact information on the seller, providing no guarantee or return policy or product delivery method.
The 'sales letter' makes completely unreasonable and unsubstantiated claims, and reaks of the old direct mail scams that took advantage of so many people years ago. So basically the pitch is, "Send me $29 and I'll send you something back" (if they ever actually do send anything.)
I'm flabbergasted. Does anyone have any comments on the transaction and the mental process behind the decision to order that so-called product? My only guesses are that the reason they ordered is due to either greed or curiosity (or both) ... and the so-called 'product' is some kind of little booklet ... (that they cannot return) ...
God Bless you,
Chip Tarver

Hi ChipT,
In my opinion, it's the same old story... People love to have BIG BIG money for nothing... It's a fact
Good luck,

Serge -
Too many people are being "Tricked" - and they just don't know it.
It's time for this nonsense to stop.
Now.

| As long as people continue to not use common sense, they will continue to be taken advantage of. I used to fall for such claims...when I was 16! Being an adult now, I know better. So should others. There would be no market for these scams if there weren't any customers. |

Goodness me we can't save people from themselves. Rip off merchants have always existed and are not going to be killed off any time soon. At least on the internet warning messages can be spread more readily. If people expect something for nothing, or for pennies, then they will soon learn it doesn't often happen that way. _________________ How to sleep well every night |

Hey. Liz -
Yes, the unscrupulous marketers eliminate themselves over time. I just wish they didn't hurt so many innocent people as they go down in flames.
God Bless you,
