I'm building a good sized mailing list
from a free program, but I would
like to add subscribers from other places too
(besides my website)

I'm sure some of you have been able to
subscribe thousands of people via
various sources.

Any ideas? This is a very important topic,
as you know the saying goes
"The money is in the list".

What was the most successful campaign
you've ever done, making people sign up for your list?
Why do you think it was so successful?
Maybe you gave some nice bonuses?
I welcome any suggestions.

creating PAID eBooks and offering them to
webmasters ... they must offer your eBook
for FREE to their customers only!

This way, you'll obtain opt-in list subscribers
from your eBook offer(s) and build a highly
targeted list of possible customers ...

You can increase your subscriber database by:

= offer free ebooks (put your subscription form in those free ebooks)
= Offer free membership for a while (if you have any)
= Offer free ezine
= joint venture with other ezine publishers
= Offer free ecourse
= Put link to your subscription form in your articles

Just few ideas...

Someone mentioned that you can try sending solo ad to other list and give them free gift for signing up.

That can work pretty well.

If you want, another good idea is to try ListOpt.com.

I build a subscriber base of 2,000+ in just 1 month. Very Happy

I have had absolutely no luck with list building.

After 1.5 years of trying tobuild a list within my one niche I have a total of 108 subscribers. Absolutely pityful.

Dave,

A quick comment in regards to your 108 subscribers...

It is not the size of the list that counts it is more about how responsive they are to your offers!

I have several lists (One in excess of 5500 subs) covering different niches but my best list in terms of revenue earned has only 132 subscribers.

Don't give up...

Be patient and continue working on building a relationship with your subscribers, it will pay off in the end.

Cheers Wink

Interesting. Thanks for the boost in confidence. I will have to send out a newsletter soon and continue to do so. I have all but given up on this list.

Dave, did you see those posts about Johnathon Mizel a few months back?

http://cyberwave.com

He's a pro at list building, it might be worth $20 to join his site and see what he can teach you. A search for those past threads on this board might be a start.

I should do so myself. Here's my pitiful list story.

See the 120 nature vids in my sig? I used to offer a few samples on my site, and then require folks to join a list to get the rest. I had a signup form prominent on every page of the site. Nothing for sale, just free full screen nature videos, perfectly on topic to the site.

Zippo, nada, total failure. After 6 months of modest traffic, I had 6 confirmed signups. Six! What a joke... I just closed my Aweber account, why bother?

Visitors seem to prefer to come to the site and read my silly descriptions of nature than get hours of full screen view of the real thing. Go figure. I must be a great writer. Smile

In my case there are technical obstacles involved (Quicktime required, long downloads for modem users) so that definitely explains part of the lack of interest. About 50% of the population has broadband and QT installed, so let's call tech stuff half the problem perhaps.

So without the tech obstacles I would have had 12 signups.
Twelve. Rock N Roll! Not... Embarassed

My net biz sites get a better response, so maybe nature surfers just hate email lists?

If you go for it, don't hang around for new articles to be released, head straight for the archives. There's gold in there.

Cheers,
Charlie.

P.S. There used to be a testimonial from Yanik Silver saying how he'd printed out hundreds (400?) pages. Well, I can tell you I have over 200 pages printed out from those archives, myself.

Not all of it is specific to affiliates, but it's excellent stuff.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm currently implementing some viral marketing strategies to improve my subscription rate, and it really does work.

I might be releasing a viral report on this... a sort of mix between different strategies I've read that should be a killer. I'll let you know.. I need to finish some other projects first.

Kind regards,

Hi,

My subscriber list is quite large and I got it this big by diversifying:

article directories
email capture on website
article submissions
free ebooks

You must use several ways to build your list...not one way....

I would say giving away a free ebook has the be the most effective way of gaining targeted subscribers. Coupled with writing and submitting articles, it has been the easiest way to get a list.

If you do not feel like writing a book or building a list but want to access a subscriber list. You can just simply advertise on one of them Smile

Yes, giving away free reports and ebooks is very effective. You can get extremely targeted subscribers this way.

I was also thinking about making a bonus site that I can send ebook makers over to, and they can use any of my bonuses for their paid product. and of course there is a subscribe somewhere in the product.

Anyone do this?
