In Commission Juntion terms, how is a "lead" defined?

Many of the programs offer "lead" based and performance based commissions. It looks as if a "lead" is almost the same a a click-through?

Also, on Commission Junction, when applying to become an affiliate for a company, what basis is used for the instant accept/reject decisions?

Thanks very much.

A lead is defined by the merchant. It could be a click, but in most instances it involves a form being filled out on the merchant site.

As far as the instant accept/reject ... if the merchant is openly accepting all applicants, you can get instantly accepted. If the merchant requires your sites to be in a specific category, and you haven't listed that category as part of your site profile, you can get instantly rejected. You can also get rejected for insufficient traffic at the time of application, among other things.
