I made my first commission today!! I am very happy since my site just went up last Friday. I am impatient to start making money from the site, I have looked into both Adwords and Overture,unfortunately the keywords are too expansive. I contacted a very reputable direct email campaign company, they will send out aout 1.5 million emails for $500, they told me the email open rate is: 5% and click through rate is 3% for the campaign.
Does anyone have any experience in doing direct email campaigns in the bad credit loans area? do the numbers sound about right?

Two words of advice:
Be careful ...
with bulk emailers ... and be darn certain that the people on their list are all real, true opt-ins, or you could be finished before you begin.
I'm also a bit pensive about the numbers they quoted you.
You might think about Google AdWords as a better and more controlled $500.00 investment. Check out my friiend Perry Marshall's site at www.PerryMarshall.com. Perry knows this deal front to back, and he's a heck of a nice guy, too ... and a straight-shooter ...

Hi!
Warning! Be carefull doing that. With the new spam laws, you could
get in trouble faster as you can think! This is no JOKE!
As Chip recommended it would be much better to spend $500 with
Google Adwords. Perry Marshall is THE MAN if it goes about Google
Adwords! I also highly recommend you to read Google Profit.
