Google has a new WYSIWYG online page creator (Google Pages). Unfortunately they are not offering new accounts at this time, but you can sign up and they will inform you when your account is activated.
I have used it a little, and it seems to work pretty well. Personally I always use notepad to create my web pages, so some of you may be able to better analyze it once you try it. _________________ Jonathan Cochran

Microsoft is about to launch Expression - a trio offer to help webmasters:
Web Designer (wysiwyg editor), Graphic Designer, and an Interactive designer.
What does this mean? Microsoft FrontPage 2003 is the last version of this HTML editor. You'll still find lots of great books, products and support on the product but they will not be investing in product development for FP. _________________ Andrea Thomson

Once you have some knowledge, then move on to content managers. They make life easier and faster when dynamically creating the content and links
look at Mambo and SuperChargedSoftware as a couple of examples _________________ www.flvhosting.com

Hi to all.
I would like to add even one more option for osnoko. There is a free editor with a lot of features that I am sure deserves to be given a look if you are on a tight budget. It is AceHtml, that can be downloaded from www.visicommedia.com. Among other things, it has built-in validation and CSS editing. It is not a WYSIWYG editor, though; it is in the style of Homesite. If you want a free WYSIWYG editor, I think Mozilla's Composer is the most easily available. There are also other ones less known. One of them (that I have not tried) is WebDwarf, which used to be available at www.virtualmechanics.com.
Best wishes. |

Hi guys,
I couldn' help resisting myself from posting in this topic. Well, I must admit that different people have different opinions about WYSIWYG HTML generator. You can try and choose any software that suits you, but at the end of the day, it is the product that is produce by you using the software is important.
For me, I have tried several types-almost all are free version, it is either freeware or Open Source Software (OSS). For the past 2 months working from scratch (DIY), I feel the best WYSIWYG HTML generator is still N|vu. Although it will generate a page validated as only HTML 4.01 Transitional, you still could produce a decent page with a lot of content to throw in. It is an OSS, mainly develop and maintained by volunteer but I must admit that for a free software that could produce a website even for a really newbie, they have done a very good job. By using N|vu also, you could save some money from buying costly propietory software like Dreamweaver, GoLive or FrontPage. I do not have much money for that. N|vu also have a very good support community, forums and freely available online tutorials. You just only have to Google to look for it. Oh, they also have HTML validator and CSS for those who fancy extra work with their website.
With the latest version 1.0, N|vu have mature enough to be used by a beginner or even expert webmaster who wants a very good WYSIWYG HTML that is really value for money.
I am saying this because I have experience it. For the past 2 months, I work very closely with N|vu, and now my website is born. You could see it from the first page, on the left column, I tried to be honest with what I work with. Firefox web browser, Made with N|vu button, Valid HTML 4.01 Transitional, ROR sitemap, XML/RSS, a mailing list (powered by Ccmail), a free translator by Altavista BabbleFish (the website could be read in 8 major languages) and lastly, Google Adsense.
If you think N|vu is inferior, think again. It doesn't cost me a cent to get it, and still, the product that it could deliver is marvellous. I also have to admit that I still did not able to fully utilize N|vu (I did not use CSS in the website), because I did not able to get a very good tutorials about using CSS in N|vu on the net (I did a LOT of Googling). So, learning how to use it is still at the back of my mind.
If you are like me, (a supporter for Open Source Community, a DIYer and willing to learn), then N|vu is for you. I bet you can do better than what I did with my website.
And the good news is, you are honoured to give me some feedback about the website!
P.S. Anybody who is interested in Open Source Software (OSS) or just like to know what it is all about, you are welcome to PM me. I also have set up a blog for it which you could access from the website.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I use Linux Xandros OCE 3.0.2 as my operating systems. Trying to get away from Windows-forever. |
