Hi all,
After 3 years of trying I'm starting to make around
$1000 a month consistently, last month $1.072.
First year started over twice with SBI, made no money, then got James
Martell's manual March 2004. Started writing articles April, making
money by Dec 2004. Started 2nd site Aug 04, making money by March
05. Started 2 sites Jan 05, these 2 sites not so hot 2 to 5 dollars a day.
The four above sites I wrote all my articles 800 to 1000 in total.
July 2005, first time to hire authors, for site 5, now makes $10 a day.
Jan, Feb, March 2006 prepared 4 new sites with 20 articles each.
When I think back I feel like I am succeeding slower than everyone
else. I'm hopeful this year I will breakthrough since I can invest
in even more articles.
How is everyone else doing... _________________ JustArticlesVIP.com Wholesale Articles Just $5.25each

My conclusion? Making money on the Internet is a lot of hard work. It's no different to any other job. Probably even more difficult. You have to put in so much time. And with so much fluctuation in income it's easy to get discouraged.
When I started two years and a half ago I really thought that in little time I would be making lots of money. But not so. Making just over 1500 with 8 sbi sites after so long. To me that's not much money at all. And its the first two sites I built that make 90% of my income.
To those who are just starting out I imagine that they have a long way to go and don't even know what they're getting into.
But if I had to do it all over again I would still enter this field. _________________ Ten Real World Sample Sites |

Jeremy -
Some people have been on the web since it got started and are STILL trying to figure out how to "get rich quick".
I like your method better though.
It may take a little more time to build the wealth, but your building a SYSTEM that will be put in place for years and years to come. Keep it up! _________________ 2009 Insider Secrets

Good to hear it. Many people would consider it a success. It can take time to build something sustainable - but it wil pay back.

That's great to hear. That is the internet spirit for me. Pure DIY.
It's true that you have to learn to delegate much to move forward, but I think it's important to have done the job yourself first. Some people are a little too eager to have content created for my taste...
Commissioning an author is one thing; commissioning a SE spammer is quite another.
By the way, great to see you pair - Jeremy and Mantius back here. I haven't noticed you around much lately. Sorry if I've missed you.
Cheers,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

That's a good start.
I'm not sure if you're asking for advice, but I'll risk offering a few tips. Feel free to ignore them.
Adding fresh, original content to your sites and getting links to them is an excellent way to build a good, solid foundation. However, perhaps you could speed up your progress by trying things you aren't doing.
For example, are you collecting email addresses? Do you have any newsletters to enhance your reputation, remind people about your sites and give you multiple chances of making the sale instead of only one?
Have you set up any autoresponder courses, for the same reason?
Have you investigated promoting affiliate programs which pay residual commissions or lifetime commissions. They can be a nice way to boost your bottom line.
Are there ways to get the word out about your best site which you aren't using? For example, press releases?
Have you tried generating publicity by taking part in email discussion lists?
Have you tried giving away a free report which contains affiliate links?
Have you tried using signature links on forums?
Have you tried making friends online with people who are in a position to mention your site somewhere?
Have you tried submitting a tip to someone else's newsletter?
Here's an idea: Pretend you've just bought your business and you're the proud new owner. Now, what would you do today to start improving it? Since you've been marketing online for three years, more than likely you already know the right answers.
Hope that helps. After three years, it sounds as though you deserve more success. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Allan,
Thx for that list...For some free tips...It was a nice little refresher course for a lot of the stuff we forget after a site doesn't make a couple of bucks a day after 2-3 monhts.
A newsletter, Autoresponder mini course etc. should all be regular things we work into every site we build strictly to build yourself as an expert in the field and as you put it...
Give yourself more then one chance to make the sale!
Cheers,

Thanks, Charlie. Haven't been posting as much. But I'm here everyday. Sometime ago I noticed your absence - or was I wrong about that. Always enjoy reading your posts. _________________ Ten Real World Sample Sites |

Thanks for your tips Allan,
I need to sign-up with aweber especially now since
it is so affordable. Autoresponders I thought used
to cost $20 per month per autoresponder, so I never
joined in the beginning.
Also need to look into lifetime commissions or network
marketing. I better diversify and leverage myself, most of
my income is from adsense.
Need to get a customer base going that pays me residually,
now I have money to invest to build this, just need to find
a successful program so I get a good ROI.
Any suggestions
I'm thinking I should choose a consumable health product,
I can get traffic from articles and have an optin for a free
7 day course which leads to an affiliate product, that offers
lifetime commissions.
Thanks for the kind words Charlie, I always check the forum
every few days.

It depends on your interests. I reckon this work is much more interesting if you stick to subjects you already know - although I break that rule now and again.
If you're in the "How to make money on the Internet" scene, you could look into promoting the Reese Report (see the ad at the bottom of this page for a free sample). It pays a whopping $50 monthly commission. You'd need to have a fairly convincing site to promote it. Although the newsletter has been around for a while, the affiliate program is new so I don't know what the renewal rate, but I suspect subscribers will stay subscribed to see what John says next. He has the ability to draw attention to things that matter.
You can find a lot of lifetime commission and residual commission programs reviewed at LifetimeCommissions.com.

Sounds well worth trying. If it's a highly competitive field, you may have to be a bit more innovative in your website creation and marketing than you have been. That free Reese Report sample gives some good ideas on how to get other people to create your website content for you. That's definitely worth thinking about. _________________ Allan Gardyne

I just ended a contest on one of my websites. I worked out some deals with a vendor to provide some free products as the incentives for the contest.
The result? I got 40 new articles to publish. 10 of those will be going into a ecourse promotes my ebook (the "catch" for signing up for the ecourse).
The remaining 30 articles will get churned up and added to the site, and the ebook. They won't go into the site "as-is"... but they do give me great content.
Time spent? A couple of hours negotiating some free prizes. An hour or two writing up the contest rules, and then a few hours sending out the submissions to a team of judges (all volunteers from the same industry the site is about).
Depending on your site, a contest might be a good way to boost traffic. I had about a 6% boost in traffic, and about a 50% boost in ebook sales from the contest. And that is before the ecourse goes live (middle of the month probably). _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Great idea, Eric! I like the way you used the contest to create fresh articles for use on your site. Nice one!
Thanks, too, for mentioning AssociatePrograms.com on your forum. Much appreciated.
Anyone else with a good idea to help Jeremy increase his traffic and earnings? _________________ Allan Gardyne

Thanks Allan,
I signed-up for the Reese Report March 3rd.
I've been looking at guest book scripts, I hope John
will recommend a resource in RR for April.
I was thinking of trying how to make money on the
internet and my usp would be for beginners since
I just went through that. Always thought it was too
competitive, but if I can just get a slice.
From my research using Keyword Results Analyzer,
I think no matter how competitive a niche is there will
always be those lesser searched keywords. Just have to
make sure there are enough of them.
Maybe I should follow the money more.
Will dig into Lifetimecommissions.com.
Edburdo glad your contest worked. I'll try it.

Hi Jeremy,
What role does article submissions to places like ezinearticles play in your strategy - does it help?
Do you also sometimes find your own site articles outranked by the article you placed with directories? |

Jeremy,
1000 articles is a lot of good content. Maybe you can re-package some of it into a few ebook(s). Then you can either sell them or give them away for free as promotion for your sites. You can also include affiliate links in the ebooks, and you may be able reach an audience you aren't reaching now.
good luck!
