Hi
This is my first post here. I'm really just getting started with this stuff.
I'm posting this question here because I would suspect that everyone here has to know the answer -- and otherwise I'd have to ask several places separately.
My question is:
How do you go about starting affiliate programs for multiple domain names that each are on a different topic?
What I mean is:
Right now I have an affiliate site in which I review certain books about which I have some expertise & opinion (call this site "A") and I am in the amazon affiliate program. My wife wants to start a web site on a totally different topic (call this site"B"). From what I understand, amazon is fine with this and all the sites can be under the same affiliate ID -- so long as you inform amazon of what you are doing.
However, I just joined some programs at linkshare for a new website I am starting to write (call this site "C" -- it is unrelated to any of the above websites).
However, some of the linkshare merchants would also be appropriate for my wife's site (site "B"). Yet site "C" is what is listed on my linkshare account as my domain name -- so would my wife have to open a new linkshare account for her separate site, or can they all be aggregated together?
I'm asking this here because there are also some other merchants who use other affiliate providers (cj.com, etc.) that I would eventually want to join -- and would probably face the same multiple domain question there as well.
Since this would seem to be a problem many experienced people here would already have dealt with, I thought this might be better place to ask than trying to ask each company separately (especially if there is a very simple answer to my long-winded question).
If it is necessary to make a separate affiliate account each time, I will. I'd just rather not have so many random number logins and passwords to remember.

Hello and welcome to the board,
I cannot comment on Linkshare, although I think that you can combine your several sites into one account.
Regarding amazon I wouldn't split accounts until clicks and sales are too many to differentiate manually (I use Excels filter function on the downloaded reports). You can also obtain a seperate tracking ID from amazon (US and UK offer this) if your traffic/sales justifies this. This way you can differentiate your sites, but still only get one payment.
You can just add what they call "sub affiliate" sites to your master Linkshare account. Then, when you create your links, make sure you choose the correct site the link will appear on. This will track your stats properly.
CJ and BeFree offer the same ability, to add multiple sites and to track separately.

Thank you!
Not knowing what the word "sub affiliates" meant, I never clicked on it.
I found it in my Linkshare account on the "your account" page -- That's exactly what I was looking for.
Now I'm down to a detail level of question that may only apply to Linkshare.
To test how this worked I applied to join some additional programs.
One didn't care about approval and just did automatic approvals.
The other said that they want to review my site & will then contact me.
I'm wondering which site will be reviewed? The one my account is under or the sub affiliate domain I just added (which would be appropriate to this merchant)?
I suppose I'll find out. I was expecting a listbox where I could choose which domain name was applying for which affiliate program. _________________ - Eric (modernferret)

I think BeFree was the only one that actually had the ability to set a specific site for a specific merchant. CJ and Linkshare show aggregate, but I believe (or should I say hope) the merchants are smart enough to check out all sites listed under the account before throwing the app into the trash. LOL
