One nice thing about blogs is that Google is very quick to index them. (I started mine about a month ago and was spidered by Yahoo in about three days, and Google in six. It took me a little longer to get into Google's index, though - about another five days.)
If you post regularly to a blog and have links to your homepage (or other pages) on it, it means that Google can find any new content, like product pages, very quickly.
Paul Short has a really good, free, report about using blogs as a marketing tool:
If you're interested in using a blog in your marketing campaign, I'd highly recommend getting a copy. I'm new to blogging, and started using some of the traffic tips he suggests just a little while ago. I'm already seeing an increase in traffic. _________________ Build Websites Quickly and Easily:

What are the pros and cons of using a blog instead of just making journal pages on your site?
With the blog software, each time you post, your main blog page is automatically updated, your archive and category pages are automatically updated and a new individual post page is created. So it automates a lot of the process. All you have to do is write the actual text and then publish.
It also generates your RSS feed.
Wordpress is free blogging software that you install on your server. Another free option is Blogger which you can point to your site, or you can use a paid service like Typepad which utilized domain mapping. _________________ Build Websites Quickly and Easily:

How do you make a blog work for you as promotion to your products or affiliate programs?
Hi heidijazmin, I'm not sure if this was directed to me, but here's my 2cents worth...
1. Blogs As Traffic Channels
- You can use your blog/s as a platform to direct visitors and search engines alike to your product/money site/s.
- You can offer tips, reviews, podcasts, videocasts, screencasts, text content, articles, etc. on your blog, with a short blurb to your products on another domain.
2. Blogs As Traffic & Marketing Magnets
- You can pretty much do everything above, but use your blog as your main 'site'.
- In a Wordpress blog, you can set multiple categories and sub-categories, that help to organize different sub-topics or product in your niche market.
