I'm a bit confused right now and need some advice.

In every course and also here in the forum, the people say you should have a .com Domain for your keyword.
The .com Domain for my keyword is already registered, but the .us Domain is still available...
Now I'ld to have some expert's opinion if a .us domain is also okay for an affiliate page.

I am sure the experts will be along shortly, but in the meantime here's my thoughts...

In an ideal world .com is preferable as most people "expect" .com. But from an SEO point of view, any top level domain is equally as good. If you expect the majority of your traffic to come from the free SEs, I'd go for...

keyword-phrase.com
keyword-phrase.net
keyword-phrase.org

...in that order of priority, before I went for the newer kinds such as .us.

If you expect a fair bit of traffic to be direct typed or promoted offline (written or spoken), I would want the domain to sound memorable, but I'd also be looking for a pair - with and without hyphens. I'd host the hyphenated version and point the other too it. For example, if the .com was not available (in both forms), go for keywordphrase.net pointed to keyword-phrase.net

Basically, the more copyable you think your site might be, the more you need to think about protecting similar domains. For an affiliate content site, I'd just go for a good top level hyphenated domain, build the content and rely on Google.

A bientot,
Charlie.

But what about a keyword which already contains three words?
Should I just put one word on it?

I'm really confused, because I normally don't like the really long urls...

I think I'm going to need an example...

Feel free to send me a private message including your site concept and any ideas for domains you might have. I'll throw some ideas back and then you can continue with this thread as you see fit.

I'll be online for about another half hour.

Cheers,
Charlie.

As far as SE ranking, your ending (.com, .us,.net) is irrelevent.
