I want to have my blog entries show on my website. I want a couple of sentences and a link to the full post on my blog.
Since I am a complete newbie when it comes to this (I don't even know the terminology) I have no idea where to even begin, or what terms to search for.
Anyone able to shead some light on this for me?

Hi Dave,
Sounds like you want to have a 'site blog' as opposed to a full scale 'dedicated blog'. Site blogs are like a 'whats new' page and point visitors to new content on your website. Whereas a 'dedicated blog' usually has complete posts which are auto-archived.
Which one is more appropriate will depend on what you want to achieve with it. Do you just want to keep regular visitors in the loop on new content or do you want to build up a list of RSS subscribers who are interested in reading individual blog posts?

I've been wondering the same thing lately, so I did a search. I found a website that walks you through the process of creating and adding an RSS feed manually to your site. It was written in 2003, so don't know if it's still a valid way to do this or not.
I'm still searching for information, though, on an easier way to add the RSS feed to a web page to show my snippets of my own blogging posts.
How to Create an RSS Feed With Notepad
I assume this is the type of information that you're looking for?

I use a tool called MagpieRSS. Its free, but it does require you to know a bit of PHP (not that much) and have access to install it on your site (FTP access to upload files is usually enough).
I use it on my drop shipping website to put a feed from a radio broadcast (it does the text transcripts on the site). Took me a few minutes to setup, and I just format the links the way I want. There are other tools out there that do the same thing.
SIDE NOTE: AWeber now has an option to include RSS feeds as regular emails to your subscribers... so if someone doesn't know how to subscribe to your RSS feed, they can get the feeds in an email. Kinda cool...

There is a free software "CaRP" which can convert RSS feeds into HTML. This software can be used to display RSS feed on a webpage.
The software can be downloaded free from this site:

From the information you have given I will assume that:
1. You can get URL for RSS feed or atom feed of your blog entries. This is standard feature in all the blogs and you will need this URL for displaying title and short description of your blog posting on your website.
2. You have access to the control panel of your website. The CaRP software is web-based. After you download the software on your computer, you will get instructions in the package for uploading to your web server and installing it there. You will just need to follow the instructions.
