I am a new Frontpage 2003 user. I have created a website at :

http://www.workathomeopportunities.biz

using Frontpage 2003. There is something that I do not understand. The theme I used in Frontpage has three frames. One on the left, one at the top and one at the bottom. Are my navigator buttons suppose to be on the left frame, my body information in the top frame and my footnote information such as "counter, bottom navigation button, etc, in the bottom frame. If so is there a way for me to increase the height of the top frame if I am using a theme already created in frontpage. I hope these questions make sense. Also any suggestions you can give me on improving my website will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi bossareyou,

Frontpage themes can be modified. You actually have 4 sections ("frames" are something different): the left navigation buttons, the top banner area, the footer (with the counter and links), and the body. These are either the default areas of this theme or else you set it up that way when you created a site using that theme. Either way, you can change the layout.

One way to lengthen the banner area is to surround it with a table and then specify the height of the table. (I've done this with my site.) You'll have to click inside the banner area to edit it. (Note that you won't be able to see the HTML code while editing the shared border areas, like the banner area. You'll only be able to do things there in WYSIWYG mode.)

Select everything in the banner area and then go Table -- Convert -- Text to Table; then select "None" for separate cells. Click OK. It will surround everything that's selected in a table.

Then right-click in the table area you just created and select Table Properties to control the table width and height (best specified in pixels for both), table alignment, etc. Click OK.

Then, right-click inside the table again and select Cell Properties. I'd recommend you specify Top as the vertical alignment, to ensure that your banner always lands at the top of the table area. Select whatever horizontal alignment you want (e.g., centered). Click OK.

Click in the body of the page to finish the edit. Then save it. The banner borders of all your pages will update, so it might take just a little longer than the usual save.

I hope that helps!

Hi - you don't need to just use the frames to put stuff in - you can also use layers. These are easy and you can change the size and position - even the colour to whatever you want. Front Page can be difficult to get used to at first but worth it. I used to use Microsoft Publisher but i much prefer Front Page 2003.
