One quick question, I host with tripod, god knows why, However when setting up my account, i didn't build under the address that was given, you know www.tim@tripod.com, i started to build under a sub page,my home page taht is, i was wondering if that would effect the outcome for page rank,

If you can persuade high quality sites in your niche - sites with lots of relevant, high quality links to THEM - you'll probably have no problem. The "trick", if you can call it a trick, is to build a site that people will want to link to.
