For content sites is 1GB of space enough.

For those of you who use Frontpage could you suggest
a host that has reliable FP extensions and knows about
Frontpage. Plus lets you customize cron jobs in order
to install Power RSS.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Hostgator is good with both.. You might need to activate FP extensions through cpanel... in cpanel you can also set up cron jobs.. I have done it... and plus their customer service is top notch...

Thanks,

What is the difference between disk space and bandwidth,
which number should I being concerned with.

I see HostGator's baby plan offers 75 gb of bandwidth,
so I can create as many websites with individual domain
names as long as I don't use more than 75gb bandwidth.

If I have a site with 500 pages of content, what is the estimated
bandwidth that it would take up.

Just using Power RSS to add feeds to 1 or 2 pages
on my site. If I use a blog I'll have wordpress installed.

Godaddy is pretty good, they are one of the largest hosting companies, and they are one of the main Domain Registrars I think. I am pretty sure they are in charge of one of the main extensions, like .com or .net or .org, etc, etc.

Diskspace is like your car... It has limited space availale for you n ur family to fit in...
Diskspace is the space you get to put up your site.. so If you have 500 files of 10 kb each.. You need at least 5000 kb of space(that's less than 5 mb).

Bandwidth is like a fuel of your car.... the more you drive, the more you use ur fuel....
In this case whenever your 10 kb page will be accessed.. You'll use up 10 kb of bandwidth... You need to have high bandwidth if you have lots of visitors per month accessing 1000's of pages..

If you have a new site.. 75gb bandwidth is more than enough on monthly basis...

Just FYI, the main reason for these questions is I have
been using Frontpage and every so often I can't publish
pages, or the server times out.

My host always says they can publish fine, the solution
is I reverse publish, then republish the site. I coulda swore
I heard them groan when I said I use FP. They don't really
know FP so they blame FP.

I can't keep doing this everytime. I need a host that
actually knows Frontpage. I discovered from a Frontpage
expert who helped me reverse publish my site that some
hosts have FP extensions but they don't really know how
to control them.

So that's why I am checking around.

What was suggested to me is readyhosting.com
They use windows servers, which is better if your
using FP.

Maybe frontpage users can come up with a reliable
group of hosts that have strong frontpage extension
connections.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Best advice anyone can give you is to save your content and start over. Get rid of Frontpage, its horrible and will only cause you headaches. This is why your host groaned. Linux server hosting is WAY better than Windows, and cheaper.

Recode your site, in Dreamweaver or Notepad, just make sure you avoid FP like the plague, and get hosting on a Linux server.

You can always save it in .html or .htm files... when working with FP. if you are useing any hosting server based on Linux servers, you'll have some prob with FP extensions

In good hosting services you can also use FP extensions. but you need to install it by going into cpanel..
