All,

I just read an article by Andrew Orlowski about
"Google shafts blogger, adds gagging clause to Adsense"
at http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/33180.html

Please have a read and tell me what your gut feeling about
the article.

Success to You,

The article is flat out wrong. What you are referring to as a gagging clause has been in the AdSense Terms & Conditions since the AdSense program began.

This article received a lot of attention on other message boards when it was originally published.

Comments on the article:

<<<<Google suspended his account on Tuesday evening, hours before payment was due for two months' worth of ad revenue. >>>>

Two months? Google pays monthly.

<<<After fellow member of the Mobitopia site, Russell Beattie publicized the episode, Google overnight added a new clause to its Adsense Terms and Conditions, forbidding Adsense users from talking about the advertising program. >>>>

This was in the terms the first time I read them last June or July.

<<<With the program shrouded in secrecy, bloggers are finding the payouts as capricious as the approvals process. "Google gets to decide what they pay you for and how much, and they can change these rates at any time," notes Beattie.>>>

First, anyone signing up with AdSense knows this from the start. Complaining about it later sounds like whining.

Second, isn't this true with just about every form of sales commission, salary, affiliate program, etc?

<<<The giant search engine - increasingly criticized for exercising power without responsibility...>>>>

Sounds like an attempt to create controversy.

All,

Many thanks for your feedback.

I must admit, I had the same impression as you lots. Also, a site
getting 3.5 milion impressions from 75,000 visitors last month.
WOW, I wished my site could get halp of that traffic.

Success to YOU

Not if you haven't accumulated the minimum, which I think is $100, but not 100% sure.

That's right, but if you can't make a hundred bucks from 3.5 million page views from AdSense, you don't want to be in the program anyway.

The article is so full of factual errors it hardly makes any sense at all.
