Post subject: image size and bandwidth

I'm considering buying SBI since it seems to offer a web marketing education as well as hosting and the best tools I've seen especially for a beginner like myself. I would like to ask the very knowledgable and gracious people of this forum about image size. What is the largest image size one can put on to a page? I would have the image linked to a thumbnail. After I e-mailed SBC I was told it was 30 or 50kb, they were not sure. This was response was from an affiliate I think. Although when I visited a site on SBI's example sites (wildlife-pictures-online.com) I noticed their image size was almost 70kb, high quality resolution and fast loading.
SBC offers unlimited bandwidth. Now we all know that is
in reality not possible. I'm sure in their terms of service there is a
statement that tells you their deffinition of "unlimited". I'm planning to have an image intensive site and I would like to know if anyone has hit the "bandwidth wall"? Or can I just load the site with as many 68kb images as I please? That would be a really good deal if true.
This is a really great forum for researching SBI so thanks to all the good folks that have contributed and thanks in advance to anyone that might answer any of my questions. Larry |

A promise is a promise. SBI has an approach that works. Pictures don't sell words do. I checked one of my pics and it is 42.9kb. I don't want the picture to overload the page. I am a SBI customer and I won't suggest another hosting package to anyone.
SBI is more than hosting. ALOT MORE!
I started with them a year ago and now I am uploading my own HTML you can see my site.
If you get the SBI site let me know.

Hi Larry,
I would recommend a third party hosting service if you intend to have a huge amount of images. There ARE limits to how much you can upload into the graphic library and it would be wise to check with support before embarking.
All the best. _________________ Declan O'Reilly

Larry, SiteSell says you're allowed an unlimited number of web pages. Each image should be no larger than 30 KB.
I referred your question and this discussion to SiteSell support. Here's the reply I received...
| Quote: | Jeff here.
Officially, the limit is 30 KB, but it seems that some of your
forum participants have images that go over the limit.
Although we offer unlimited bandwidth for web pages
(and associated images), the stumbling block is user
download speed and user experience. An unlimited
number of 68 KB images may make your poster happy,
but it won't make his site's visitors very happy.
Best regards,
Jeff Johnston

Thanks Allen for contacting SBI support on my behalf. I figure as long as I can duplicate the quality and very fast loading images of have seen from the sbi member site(wildlife-pictures-online) I will be a happy camper. I'm actually planning to start a site as an allposters.com affiliate and since I'll just have their thumbnails on my site it shouldn't be too many kb's. There will also be some original art on my site though and I would lilke to see some nice larger images of those. My main interest is visual art so I think whatever I do with the site I'll need to consider image size and bandwidth limits. Yes words sell but when one is trying to sell pictures, the pictures have to be good too. It seems that most webhosts place the limit at 30kb. I'm gonna get sbi today so I can get the 2 for 1 deal. I've already got some ideas that check out pretty well on the wordtracker demo. I can't wait to get started. I'm pumped!
Merry Christmas to all! Larry |

It's quicker to use the edit button above your message and fix it - that's if you notice it in time.
Cheers,
