Hi Folks,

I was reviewing a few different applications that can automatically handle to submission of a web site to online directories and search engines. One of which is "AddWeb" from CyberspaceHQ.

I was wondering what other people though of AddWeb and similar products, and whether or not they're worth the dough - or is it better to just manually submit?

Thanks!

Correction. Addweb is not a scam.

In fact Addweb's BIGGEST feature is the GIANT group of people who wants to exchange links with you.

You can get over 100s of links in just one week.

Even Addweb admits that their software is not only a website submission software, it's a search engine campaign software.

If they claim that there software is for

website submission software
then its a scam.

Anyone who is charging for software or a service for submitting to search engines are engaging in fraudulent behaviour.

That's what I said.

Addweb is sold as a website promotion software. NOT search engine submission software.

What makes it fraudulent or a scam though? Are they not really submitting the links to search engines, directories and FFA link pages?

...becasue they are charging you for a service that does not make any difference to the ranking of your site.
Submitting to search engines is something that stopped being of any benefit last century...
Submittng to FFA is more likely to harm you than help.
Submitting to directories should be done manually, not by software.

I thought submitting to FFA's could only be a problem if you were actually linking back to them. ( ? )

You are right, but most of them are not even indexed in Google (so the link is worthless anyway) and they will just email you with spam .... they are not worth wasting your time over....better of making your site better so you get natural oneway links.

DON'T buy it. Its my personal opinion.

I bought it in 2001 for $300.00 (as far I remember) After few months they said they upgraded it and told to buy it for extra $$. Not remember though.

I didn't get good results with it. I just stopped upgrading and even using it after using it for 8 months.

DON'T waste your money on it.

Search engine submission offers should be avoided like the plague. Search engines will find you if get a few quality backlinks and let them do their thing.

FFA pages have become meaningless at best.

Directory submission is a trickier process than some believe, but it still offers great benefit. Directories are a great backlink source, but one needs to target SEO-friendly directories and appropriate niche directories manually.

Article submission also offers some real benefit in terms of search engine placement (because of the backlinks you can generate). Again, it is best done via a manual process and works best with optimal submission site targeting.

Short-cuts (FFA blasting, mass search engine submission, etc.) rarely do enough to justify the time, effort, and cost involved. And, on the rare occasion they do produce results the search engine co's figure out ways to beat the short-cuts (just look at comment spam in blogs and implementation of the NOFOLLOW tag, for instance).

My $.02.

I would buy it purely for link exchange. But you guys are right. If your site is structured properly, eventually spiders will come there anyways. Two things will speed up the process: visitors and links.
