Hello,
I've been running my own successful web hosting business
for several years now and in that time I've learnt what a server
can and cannot do.
First, the number one reason why servers go down, in my
experience, is because of too many accounts (ie, domains) on
the server.
There is a limit to the number of accounts you can put on a
server - its as simple as that! Its not rocket science.
I start using another server once I reach 300-400 accounts. At
this level, downtime is very, very minimal (usual maintainence,
server diagnostics, etc).
So, before you host with anyone, check to see how many accounts
are hosted on their servers using this free online tool:
http://www.dnsstuff.com/
(Note: Do the WHOIS Search, and use their nameserver domain)

Excellent suggestion. I had no idea you could check how many are hosted. I've been through nightmares with hosting that went down time and time again so can appreciate the usefulness of this tool.

Hey, I tried Whois lookup for AssociatePrograms.com but could not find the number of websites hosted.

Can you explain in detail?

Hello better_man,
Always use the nameserver domain - not the website domain.
For example, you'd need to know the nameserver domain that Associateprograms.com is using or any other domain for that matter
(you could look this up at whois.net).
Then go to http://www.dnsstuff.com and enter the nameserver domain
in the WHOIS search box.

Sorry about the delay in replying....
Ok, you found the nameserver to be:
NS329.PAIR.COM 209.68.2.174
NS0000.NS0.COM 216.92.61.2
I did a WHOIS search using pair.com and nso.com, but did not get any results back on the number of domains hosted, which is not unusual. This means we have to look at other nameservers to find the number of websites hosted.
The next thing to do is to find the nameserver for webwizards.net.
Using the WHOIS search tool, I found the nameserver to be this:
NS3.YOURSERVER.NET
NS4.YOURSERVER.NET
Now, do a WHOIS search using the domain YOURSERVER.NET
You'll see the number of domains hosted is 336 (correct at the time I did the WHOIS search).
I hope this is clear.

Just to help you with your digging...
AssociatePrograms.com uses pair.com as its host (it used to use WebWizards.net) and pair.com uses a large number of servers.
