Hi all:

I have a 5 year old site that breaks some of the rules. Example - two separate topics on one site!

I would like to transfer one of the topics to a new domain name, probably using SBI.

QUESTION - how should I do this so that:

(a) I do not lose existing "fans" who have me bookmarked (not to mention sites that have links)

(b) I do not get into trouble with the SE's

For (a) I was thinking of making all the old pages automatically send you to the corresponding new page (I know the HTML to do this), but will that make trouble for me on the new site with regard to the search engines?

thanks for ideas/comments

Richard

p.s. My current site is listed in Yahoo, for both topics

p.p.s. the portion I want to move has about 50 pages, 40 of which are content rich.

Hello Richard.

I think the best way is to use a 301 redirect. The exact procedure is outlined here...

Hope this helps,
Charlie.
