Ouch. I feel your pain. Rolling Eyes

I quite agree, though...

One way to do this in practice is to "do what they do not what they say". Pick a few key marketers and get inside their systems and then heads.

Cheers,
Charlie.

Another way to double your income to 50k/month is to post in forums and send as many as possible to your sales page through a sig...

That way you won't even need a website, nor need that thinking stuff.

Sorry, but I'm not with you at all on this one...

That sounds a bit easy to me - even in Krone.

You might just get away without a website... I think. Rolling Eyes

Were the herrings off this morning, or something? Keep on smoking it (them)... Wink

Cheers,
Charlie.

I imagine some sarcasm was intended.

Hey, do you know, I almost missed what you were saying there...

Sorry Alf. I think I missed the point. Occasions like this are a bit of a worry. I wonder how many of us really understand what each other are saying.

Cheers,
Charlie.

P.S. When I can manage cryptic humour in a second language, you'll be the first to know.

Hello, everyone.

achiever wrote in the thread "getting started with no money" that:
I was missing one thing and that is more important than money, it was
education, my excitement got me overwhelmed but my excitement faded.
...I just didn't know what else to do.

This reminded me of my very first foray into online business. The hype
about how much you can earn overwhelmed me and made me forget
about the product which might as well have been nonexistent. All the
same my excitement and enthusiasm was what kept me going from day
to day, following well-intentioned but poor suggestions of placing free
classified ads and clicking for traffic.

I still cannot understand why I did not try to educate myself about
methods that work and basically left it all up to my downline club to
tell me what to do next.

It's not really a surprise that after a few months my interest in the
opportunity faded and $49.95 down the drain. But it was this event
that triggered me to start gathering and absorbing information!

And so it makes me smile to see someone throwing the question out.
To have the awareness which I did not, to try and educate himself. The
first lesson is certainly:

Learn to Think for Yourself

It is one of the most important elements that I think you should
declare to yourself. Just say it out loud. You are responsible for your
business. Everything -- its successes and failures -- lies in your
hands.

From my own experience, this is one of the toughest lessons I've had
to learn. Sometimes it strikes me how a principle (can I call it that?)
so basic is so easily overlooked or taken for granted.

"Much ado about nothing!" is what my brain sometimes tells me
when I think that people are forgetting to make a critical basic step
before they jump into the online-business-bandwagon.

The critical step, I believe, is preparing oneself by developing the
right attitude for business...for success. How come I never read any
material being shared about this?

Do people simply think that it IS much ado about nothing? I certainly
did when I started out! Surprised) Do they think it doesn't really need a moment
of consideration to get one's head straight?

So, here is my 2 two cents for any beginner who is eager to get started
with sleeves up and excited about getting down to the nitty-gritty...

How to work intelligently...as neeraj_sam put it.

1 Learn to think for yourself. You must be consciously aware that every
aspect of your business lies in your hands. You can be open to other
people's ideas to widen your perspective and generate fresh ideas of
your own, but be the one to decide what methods to use and implement.

2 Run your business all on your own terms. YOU decide what niche to
occupy, what product to sell, what methods to use, etc.

I was really bitter the first few months after I realized that the so-called
business was a total wreck. I blamed everyone and everything but myself.
Always remember that when all the dust settles, the decision is and
always has been YOURS. Don't ever think otherwise.

3 Set a direction for your business by identifying your goals. Successful
marketers don't just make plans on a day-to-day basis. They have this
gigantic term (!) called a Business Plan. Start out by outlining your
goals and cut them down to manageable pieces until you can make a
schedule out of it. And then stick to it!

The actualy "doing"...executing this is the challenge, isn't it?

P.S.
I did not understand anything you guys were talking about! Herrings...?

Hi Margaux,

Herrings...don't worry...Charlie & co do a mean "old guys in the muppets" double act...and if I go 1980s Spitting Image...the Swedish Chef will soon be making an appearance!
Actually I love Swedes..once had a pen-friend in Akersberga just outside Stockholm, but in trying to convert her to a g/f she took away the very paper I was writing on... Sad, eh?
Cryptic, maybe.

Your comments on making a Business plan and thinking for yourself are also my experience.

Google the One page business plan by Jim Horan.
A SOHO Aff biz can easily be put on a 1-page plan and updated as you go, whistle while you work etc.

Right 6am here. Back to the Herrings, I mean, breakfast!

To be honest, I'd never looked at Allan and Alf in that light.

That's for you to know and us to wonder...

Rest assured, I'm not trying to use this forum to seduce anybody.

By the way, remember Alf's a Norwegian. (Plus, once you see his picture I doubt you'll want him as your girlfriend either.)

Cheers,
Charlie.

P.S. Just for the record, Margaux, Alf is a self-confessed fish-o-holic, hence the "herrings" angle.

But you're right, all this has little to with affiliate programs. Just a lot to do with misunderstood posts. "Plus ca change...", as they say in Japan.

Thanks for the advice, Cruthin.

Sorry for getting back to you so late, but it seems that panic and
confusion runs high at my end these days.

I regret to say that I don't have the financial resources to purchase
the book you mentioned. However, google results pointed me in the
direction of several promising resources to help me get started.
Should have googled this a long time ago. It still amazes me how a
little bit of one's own initiative can get you places.

While we're (kind of still) on the topic, what is the ideal order of things,
in terms of getting started?

- Choose a Niche
- Choose a Product
- Register a Domain Name

...then write a Business Plan? Or..?

P.S.
I didn't think herrings were so small. Always thought they were kind
of big and roundish, as was corrected so matter-of-factly by a fishing
poster at the local hobby store. I have never sampled this type of
fish. On second thought, I have not had any fish in a long while! The
last one being smoked salmon, the national traditional delicacy just
next door...

Hi Very Happy

I just wanted to second the usefullness of the OnePage Business Plan for the Aff business. On that site, you should still be able to find resources to complete one on your own without the book. If you need the template, I have one that you can use or you can actually make your own. Just PM me if you're interested.

Hello Mazhar,

There are some affiliate programs out there that are free to join and begin earning. If interested send me a private message.

Hi, someone mentioned something about making posts to forums with your signature at the end as being profitable. How profitable is this method? Can anyone comment on this? I've heard that the more posts you have the higher your sales.

Thanks,

Liane Bate
